But English is littered with foreign words that people use all the time - if you order a pizza every day it doesnt make you Italian. Why are you so upset. If a Turkish person wishes to describe themselves as European that's fine by me - why does it upset you so much. I think given their history they have as much right to be called European as anyone else.

Unfortunately we have been told to turn our backs on what we are and then to turn to what we are not, turn to those who will never accept as one of their own anyway, hence a big identity crisis. The truth is we are Asian, we are of Asia.

You are correct about the language too. Almost 1 out of 5 words we speak is from Arabic and 1 out of 20 is Persian. There is nothing wrong with this as this enriches the Turkish language just like how English language is enriched with all the latin (French), Germanic (British people are originally Germanic anyway), Norse, Celtic words found in the language. What is sad is when some people deny this richness and turn their backs on their own culture. They are unfortunately so insecure about who they are, and can not pick and choose the good parts of a foreign culture without denying their own. Sad. Very sad, considering the Turks having a brilliant history with a very rich culture.

Armenian Holocaust

-------------

The plans of the 1915-23 Armenian Genocide, where a million and half Armenians perished in a barbaric way in their ancestral lands in modern Turkey, actually were drawn up and were in place by the year 1910 or 1912.

There is the book "Inner Folds of the Ottoman Revolution" written by Mevlan Zadeh Rifat in Turkish and published in 1929, the author, a pro-sultan Turk, claims that the "Armenian genocide was decided in August 1910 and October 1911, by a Young Turk committee composed entirely of displaced Balkan Jews in the format of a syncretist Jewish-Muslim sect which included Talaat, Enver, Behaeddin Shakir, Jemal, and Nizam posing as Muslims. It met in the Rothschild-funded Grand Orient loge/hotel of Salonika." Syncretism means a combination of different forms of belief or practice; masonism fits that description. As the masons started the 1897 revolution in France with the cry "liberty, fraternity, equality," Young Turks used the same slogan in their revolution of 1908.

A 1994 conference paper/lecture by Joseph Brewda of Schiller Institute entitled "Palmerson launches Young Turks to permanently control Middle East " claims the founder of the Young Turks to be a certain Jew by the name of Emmanuel Carasso. He states: "Carasso set up the Young Turk secret society in the 1890s in Salonika, then part of Turkey, and now part of Greece. Carasso was also the grand master of an Italian masonic lodge there, called 'Macedonia Resurrected.' The lodge was the headquarters of the Young Turks, and all the top Young Turk leadership were members."

Further on Mr. Brewda says: "During the Young Turk regime, Carasso continued to play a leading role. He met with the sultan, to tell him that he was overthrown. He was in charge of putting the sultan under house arrest. He ran the Young Turk intelligence network in the Balkans. And he was in charge of all food supplies in the empire during World War I." It is ironic that four centuries after the Turkish sultans welcomed the expelled European Jews into Turkey, certain Jews belonging to secret societies and to Zionism will kick the sultan out of power early in 20th century, destroy the Ottoman Empire, and celebrated their victory by massacring by proxy almost the whole Christian Armenian people, one million and half Armenians; half million Greeks; and half million Christian Assyrians & Arameans.

Turk are from the generation of Turk bin Yafit bin Noah while Arabs are from Sam bin Noah. A totally different nation but being Muslims we all love Arabic and are proud of Arab Muslims. Arabic alphabet were adopted by Turk Otomon caliphs but when caliph was defeated by European forces and Arab tribes working under the guidance of Lawrence of Arabia (a British spy) the caliphate was destroyed. Palestine became captive and Mostafa Kamal an Albanian origin Muslim general liberated Turks from Europeans. In appearance Ata Turk was muslim but in origin he was hateful from muslims so he discarded Arabic alphabets and started Roman instead. This was his mistake because these were adopted by caliphs for progress of Islam in the world. Urdu a language understood by more than a billion people and mainly muslims was started by the influence of Turks and their use of Arabic alphabets. Word URDU means ARMY in Turkik language. Presence of current Arabic words in Turkey is not because of their Arabic origin but because of Islam, the great religion of our beloved prophet Mohammad (may Allah bless him).

Friends dont speak irrelevant historical details without knowledge and for rascism. Turk are our brothers and member of Muslim brotherhood. That brave and intelligent nation has protected us for 500 years against the crusading Europeans. We thank to Turks and Mongols for their acceptance of Islam and protecting us. Who can forget Amir Timur (Tamburlain) or Suleman the Magnificient or Sultan Mohammad Fateh (who with all his army was given glad tiding of heaven by the holy prophet hundreds of years before his birth).

Our lack of following Islam and weakness of faith has made us a laughing stock for the world. Muslim wake up and start with first message of Islam IQRA meaning READ.

i agree with cavorim..i admit that am absolutely clueless about the Turks and their descent, but the argument you've presented is quite absurd, really...For instance, English language is practically based on Greek and Latin, with many other words borrowed from French, Italian, German etc.,not to metion the "Anglicization" of many local languages..Language is ever-changing, and is easily influenced by various factors like geography etc.
