Norman Borlaug, father of modern high-yield crop technology, when awarded the Nobel Peace Prize was credited with saving over one billion lives. That's right--BILLION...with a "B". I think this man has a greater impact than Jesus ever has or ever will. Who's with me?

Alright, I take back the words "greater impact". Please replace them with "better impact".

Yes, how dare I think. This man didn't die for anyone. He lived to help other people live!

Fictional characters do obviously have an impact, though ;-)

Hey moron, you do know that GM crops go through more rigorous testing by the EPA, the FDA and USDA than any other crops, right? You have done the research and know that so-called 'natural foods' are many times more carcinogenic according to the Ames test, right?
I suppose you support Friends of the Earth and Green Peace for telling starving countries the food we tried to give them was poison?

I'm with you, and I'm better than Jesus, too.
Louis Pasteur.
Jonas Salk.
Hundreds of thousands of medical researchers finding ways to save lives are better than Jesus.
Even those who disagree still use medical doctors, who are taught evolutionary biology and must show they understand it before being accepted into medical school.
So, while I'm at it, my very fine doctors are better than Jesus.

Nobel created nitrate fertilizers that we couldn't feed the world population without. If he hadn't created explosives he would be revered as the greatest scientist that ever lived for his contributions (even over Norman Borlaug)
Jesus like all great spiritual leaders is more about "hacking" reality than figuring out how to make the perceived reality work. The spiritual message of Christ is very important but the people that claimed to follow it used it as excuse to kill each other for two thousand years now which means they have no idea what he was talking about.
The guy that created quantum mechanics is pretty incredible but until the rest of us catch up to him in understanding he will not get the credit he deserves. Jesus is like that in that very very very few people understand his message. Christians of all sorts obviously don't understand the words of Christ.
I'm eternally grateful that Jesus isn't a Christian.

Sure, why not. He can be proud of what he has done.
People say Jesus gave people hope. So does that mean nobody had hope before jesus came along. Non-Christians don't have 'hope'?
Also, the 'concept' of Jesus has become quite removed from the actual historical figure, if there was one.

I think Norman Borlaug did a great job. Cheers for him.
But the greater or better impact is not a question.
Of course not. But then, you probably don't know my Jesus personally, so it would be hard for you to understand .
Blessings

Saving a billion lives in an overpopulated world vs the impact of a fictional character? Hmmm, I might have to think about that one.
add> yes D, that is the root of my dilema. Saving millions of lives sounds good, but what about saving them in an already overpopulated world. Our Earth is already taxed by the human population.

Borlaug did a great thing, and billions of lives owe him plenty. But Jesus gave us hope and knowledge, pacifism and a way to a healthy life. Yes I know people started wars because of faith. But that's bull. The Crusades started because of territory, Jesus taught pacifism, Others who use peace as a reason for war. He Used peace as a reason for hope.

GM food???? you've got to be kidding!! As of now it has killed most of the monarch butterfly population, not to mention taking all of the business away from our local farmers...They won't even label these foods in stores because if they did, nobody would buy them because we have not yet tested the effects that they could have on humans.
Ohhh..now I'm a moron??? You mean to tell me you TRUST the EPA, FDA and USDA???!!! You've got to be kidding again....LOL!!! I bet you TRUST out government and think they are ohhh sooo wonderful!!!! I can't stop laughing!!!!!! AHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

It is funny that a person such as yourself is so narrow minded...Since it is obvious that you have no clue as to what you say.......oooooh....a billion people..... God created all of us, and through Jesus all are saved.... numbers like the grains of sand in the desert... I will pray for God to have mercy on you... (Find Jesus brother before it is too late)
