I would hesitate to offer advice to someone because the only authority with which I speak would be my own 13 year marriage, which has had its own problems. In a sense, I could share that story and sympathize with someone, but each relationship is somewhat of an island unto itself. Without really knowing that person, and their spouse, and having a good sense of each person's personality, any advice I could give would be purely speculative. Unless someone were a VERY close and well-known friend, I would not feel qualified to try to "speak truth" into someone else's life.
I am OK with speaking my mind here, on these topics, because I don't worry too much about anyone actually taking what I say to be gospel and perhaps screwing up their lives based on it--most people who come here already have fairly fixed viewpoints that are not going to change. Instead of "answers" R&S is more like a debate forum, IMO.

One should always want the best for ones neighbors. The word love is used a lot. Love requires understanding, and in a complicated world, it is not easy to uderstands things and people. It takes sensitivity, first, then one needs to know how to listen to people, who might be quite different from you. Also, one needs a good knowledge of the problems of the world,so as to be able to relate better to people with problems. Also an open mindedness toward the positive values in all belief systems would be helpful. It takes a lot of work to love anyone.

If God has directed you to do so go there.Have you tested the spirit? That is different confirmations that are impossible to duplicate.

A lot do - the ones that don't are the ones called "Christians". They don't help unless you convert.
