"Lui la prese in braccio, sapendo comunque che non avrebbe potuto portarla a lungo, perchè lui stesso era già molto stanco".
In this context English plural "arms" translates in Italian into singular "braccio". The first 2 translations are wrong but also the other 2 have small errors. In Italian we say "la prese in braccio". The suggested " la prese tra le sue braccia" has a different meaning, same as "he hugged her"
Edit # 1 - I guess the one who gave thumbs down know nothing about Italian !!!

You had been given the gist, and it's a call for participation to move out for a espresso with a boy who purports to be Italian, however be warned , the "candy and expensive/lovable/high-quality younger Italian boy" does now not talk or write right Italian and the sentence creation is English, now not Italian.

(Lui) la prese tra le sue braccia, sapendo comunque che non avrebbe potuto tenerla/portarla/trasportarla (=synonyms) a lungo, poiché era già stanco lui stesso.
The first two answers are wrong

"Lui la prendió fra le sue braccia, sapendo però che non avrebbe potuto da molto tempo perché lui era già così molto stanco"
-Braccia has a irregular plural, that's why it ends with -a instead of -e,which would be the normal thing. It happens very often with body parts.
-And you have to use avrebbe potuto (perfect conditional)instead of potrebbe (simple conditional) because the sentence is in past.
-You can use either prendió (past simple-Passato remoto) or ha preso (present perfect),the first one is more formal. The second one is the one you'd use in a conversation.
If you use the second one the sentence becomes:
Lui l'ha presa fra... (L for la [her] and presA because she's a woman and when the direct Object comes before the verb avere you have to how the gender, otherwise you wouldn't know the subject,it could be either her or him)
Hope it helps!
