I've heard this is the best audio course by far, and is like Pimsleur but enough vocablulary to actually be functional in. The problem is, it's based around Latin American Spanish, and my aim is to converse mainly with Spanish.

Should this be much of a hinderance?

Based on Latin American Spanish?
In Latin America, Spanish is as varied as English is around the world.
Actually, languages courses are aiming at teaching "standard" language. So it won't be a problem for you to talk with Spaniards.
You get used to the accent and local expressions, pretty much like English, so I don't see how you can have much of a problem communicating with people from Spain.
Besides, not all Spaniards speak the same way. Their accents and idioms vary according to the different regions in Spain.
Buena suerte!

Dear friend,
I am not familiar with the course you named. Watch out because all them courses are businesses. Some advertise; Take our course and you will be speaking like a native in 6 weeks. How many words? You certainly will not be able to understand it untill you have been exposed to it for very long.No one can teach you Sp. except yourself. It takes hard work day and night for a lifetime.Spanish can be understood in all Sp. speaking countries.
