They don't have sugar... so what gives them the flavour and sweetness? Lots of preservatives and bad things.

1.artificial sweeteners are very bad for you. think aspartine, splenda, they have been linked to cancer and many other serious health problems.

2. they are very high in salt. causes bloating, etc

3. the sweetners in diet soda make you feel more hungy so you end up consuming more calories regardless

4. a large part of why soda is bad for you at all is the carbonation which is still in diet soda

if you don't know about the health risks with sugar substitutes and carbonation you should research it.

They might not have sugar but they have everything else that regular sodas have: caffeine, preservatives, artificial coloring. Artificial sugar isn't really good for you either. A lot of artificial sugars have negative side effects in lab animals (I do not condone animal testing, I'm just stating that studies are done on animals) and artificial sugar has similar effects to sugar anyway. All of the extra additives in the soda are what cause it to be bad for you.

I don't know specifics, but my father is a chemist and one of our family friends works in the labs for Splenda and other artificial sweeteners. Judging by the reports of what happens to the structures and functional abilities of the rats they test the artificial sweeteners on, I can only advise you to steer as far away from these types of sweeteners, such are found in diet sodas, as possible.

Everything the girl above me said... who got a thumbs down which is ridiculous... I love how people on here ask questions and when they get real answers that is to the point and proven.. they get thumbs down... well here give me more thumbs down...
they contain aspartame (most of them) and when ingested in the body heats up and turns to formaldehyde... I have been in med school. I know this... so please give me thumbs down.. I will take it so seriously from a bunch of stay at home moms and minimum wage workers.
