Christians and muslims are dumb because they base their belief on faith, which means, do not question , just follow what is written in the book . The church and mullahs has to say that because otherwise, the Bible or the koran becomes a crock, with many inconsistencies and many things that simply do not make sense.

So they stay dumb and traditional for another couple of years?

You are right. That's not true. It's enough to see one great christian and one great muslim to disprove that.

Faith is the hope of things not seen.

Our world is behaving as if it has no hope.

To those without faith the behavior may seem quiet unreasonable but for those who live by it, we know how real and consistent it truly is.

It is like a person who smokes and says that he wants to quit.
In truth he does not want to quit or he would.
What he doesn't like may be how he feels or smells or lots of other reasons. In his mind quitting is hard and giving up his smokes is a task and can be like giving up freedom.

Once he does quit, he will start to see smoking in a new light. The freedom he gets far out reaches the cost of quiting. The money he saves, the health he gains, and eventually the lack of addictive drive are all part of his new outlook.

Well living in faith is like this also. Unless you do it you will never comprehend how it works, why it works, and even why you would even want to. But from a faith based reality it all becomes clear.

Understanding the Bible falls under this also. Unless you are committed to it and know the author as your Savior, none of it will make sense. One great thing about it is within its own words. Seek and You SHALL find...

Keep seeking the answer is out there.

Thanks so much for calling me dumb- and by the way, you don't know me. Faith does not mean we leave our minds at the door. I am not following "just what is written in a book", I am following Jesus who the Bible points too. Do you believe that 1+1=2? How do you know that? Someone wrote it in a math book, and you believe that? Is that dumb? OF course not!! Faith is something that is very important to me, and having faith in Christ is the most important because my faith will one day lead to being in the presence of Christ , literally for eternity- and that is awesome to me. Call me dumb if you want too, it does not bother me in the least- my faith will NEVER CHANGE- because it is based on a personal relationship with the living Lord.

Yes certainly your statement is not true at all.Muslims are not dumb.We received the content of Qur'an with our intelligence common sense, heart and minds. We do not accept it blindly. We can discuss it verse by verse .We do not find an inconsistencies. Please show if you find it as your evidence
.But we acknowledge that not all verses can be understood its meaning such as alif laam miim is only Allah who knows its meaning. It is an evidence that Qur'an was not made by Muhammad pbuh himself. It is given by Allah.Qur'an is not a crock.Qur'an is a complete life guidance given by Allah through Muhammad pbuh for all humans .If we want to be happy and safe in life here in this world and in the life after death we should practise all the content of Qur'an in our everyday of life..Iman is based on faith. If you have no faith you are dumb, blid and deaf. But I convince that you are not blind, dumb and deaf.

Okay, let's look at these things separately:
- nobody is saying christians and muslims are dumb.
- yes, their beliefs are questionable to people outside their faiths.
- yes, athiests (I use that example because I am an athiest) can't quite understand why they adhere to the teachings of an ancient book.

But no, the statement is not true. Christians and Muslims are not, by default, dumb.

Frustratingly stubborn, maybe, but not dumb :)

I always search the scriptures for clarification on verses in the Word... I ask my leaders and if they don't know, my question goes up and up until it finds someone with the answer. Our pastor encourages us to search the scriptures, and see what we also come up with concerning what he teaches us (though he already knows what we'll find lol)

Everyone has faith in something.. even an atheist believes things blindly to be true, based on what "scientists" and "professionals" say, and the "evidence" they put forward...

Faith takes many forms in this world. And I am not dumb, nor ignorant.

Take care, God bless

I am a christian but what I think it is saying is if a lie is questioned enough more lies will be told to cover those lies but eventually after much questioning a lie will be exposed - pretty much the philosophy of lawyers in court.

So faith is kind of like a cover where no answers are required - like refusing to answer questions.

Thats what I think it means.

While I am neither Muslim nor Christian, I am the other religion (Jewish). Faith does not mean "don't question things"!
Often, the way things are questioned is what is wrong & not the questioning itself. I tend to avoid bringing my questions to others, as I do my own research & come to my own conclusions. This is how we grow!

Fundamentalism is the carnal mockery of true spirituality.
The church is the people not the institutions.
Faith as you define it is a suborn adherence to superstition not true faith at all.
Faith is knowing beyond all doubt not fighting your doubts to prove your nonexistent faith.

If you take Faith out of our culture you would be lost. People put faith in other people all the time so why is it so bad to put faith in someone you never met or can't see. People use this debate to try and ruin our religions and proove that stupid theory of the Big bang or Evolution.

Truth is a subjective thing. A witness says he sees John running down the street. The witness swears he is telling the truth as he knows it, but was that really John?
