Yes I have read his life. Now I don't want this to come over as some sort of sob story as it's the truth.
When I was born I was 2months premature and as a result quite seriously ill.
My parents were given a pendant with Padre Pio engraved on to it which they put in my incubator.
They are quite religious people, especially my mum and they prayed to Padre Pio everyday about 4 - 5 times a day.
When they were told about 2 - 3 months later that I was out of the danger zone, they believe that it was Padre Pio who had saved me. I still have the pendant to this day in my bed side table.

I believe everyone at some time or another goes through a period of Aridity, just like Padre Pio, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, Teresa de Avila..... I have experienced it and I will never reach sainthood. I agree with your suggestion about reading it.

As for the negative remarks- remember, they should not matter to one who is truly humble.

In the Love of Christ,

A phenomenon perhaps psychologically induced but not proof of more than his character . I've been over seas and found the supernatural is only a manifestation of natural means but still spiritually relevant as the laying on of hands and watching people slain in the spirit . Today's mysteries are tomorrow's knowledge.

Padre Pio was an amazingly blessed man. i'm glad you've had the opportunity to read about his life. there is another, while not as "dramatic" as Padre Pio. if you want another nice read - look up Fr Solanus Casey.
