Do they carry it on their backs to a nearby city and sell it there? Does someone come around and buy it from them? What goes on in there?

some carry iton their back, some sell to large supermarket chains, it get into the cities by truck, boat, trains and so on

Different parts of the country, different sized farms. different types of produce. All use different systems. Some just go to local markets. Larger farms produce more than can be absorbed by the local economy so they are transported to the Cities. Usually by truck although there is some refrigerated train shipping. and.... You havn't seen a push bike loaded down till you have seen one in Asia. I swear that I have seen whole houses on the back of a bicycle.
Camels, bikes, mules, horses, human drawn, trucks, etc. What ever it takes.

China has a system known as the Farmer's Co-operative,a very well co-ordinated and efficient one.A farmer does not in most cases takes his produce to a market,rather the market comes to him in form of the co-operative team and is given the best price at his door steps.
