Disney is putting out an animated movie called the Ten Commandments. The only thing is they have decided that they do not want God mentioned in advertising of any sort; even though it is about God, literally! So, I am curious as to why we live in a country where 75% claim Christianity (I dont buy it) but we have God removed out of something like a movie that is actually about the Big Guy Himself? I have been mystified as to why we have so little representation in any sort of movie, music, television, etc if God is so popular. I cannot help but think we are becoming more and more secular, though others believe we are becoming more fundamentalist. Could we agree on fundamentally secular? lol Seriously though, I would love to hear from all beliefs or lack thereof what your thought is of Disney eliminating God out of advertising for a movie about Him, or even our mainstream media in general about this very thing. God's peace :)

Queen, youve got to be kidding me that you believe the crap Disney put out about thier reasoning. Its abundantly clear mainline movies sans the Passion arent even made, so this is no surprise to me at least.

Mr Finger Pull! I knew someone was gonna call me on the foxnews thing heh. Really, I googled it before I posted cause I just knew lol Unfortunately there wasnt alot of press about this decision...go figure.

i dunno...maybe i'm reading it wrong? it looks to me more like the problem was the ENTIRE phrase "chosen by God"...with the phrase included it almost sounds like they're saying God did the casting for the thing...eerily similar to limbaugh's 'talent on loann from Gawwwwwwwwd' bullcrap...it just doesn't seem to me like disney is trying to 'eliminate' God from its advertising as much as they're trying to avoid USING God as an advertising 'hook'
of course, i can't help wondering how badly disney will screw this up after the travesty that was 'pocahontas'
(edit)
today i read the ad for it in the washington post-the ad said 'behold the power of the Lord'...so, once again, fox is making a big issue out of nothing...sales of john gibson's book-length rant about the imaginary 'war on christmas' must be slipping...shop early, shop often!

First of all, Fox News is crap. I'm not saying the story's untrue, I'm just saying that Fox News is crap.

Second, if that's true, that's just silly. It's just a story -- I say leave God in. Saying the word "God" on an advertisement hardly amounts to pushing your views on people.

Third, I like the story of the ten commandments, even though I'm an atheist. I totally dug the movie w/ Heston.

It's Called Secular Humanism. Psalm 9:17, Revelation 3:16.......The Easter Bunny has replaced the Ressurrection, Santa Has Replaced the birth of Christ. Calling Christmas Christmas is almost Illegal and refer to it as Winter Break or the Holiday Season, Thanksgiving is not for God and replaced by a Turkey and by the way it is very Hard to find anything that says Happy Thanksgiving, either. The contention is that If you remove God or references to Him, they will forget about Him.

America is more Tolerant of Islam, Buddism , Wicca and Satanists..... Socialist/Communists did that in every Communist country, before their demise and fall. Disney is also anti traditional Family too.

Well, I'm guessing they figure that those who know will get it, and those who don't will be too stupid to figure it out and so will shell out the $24 for movie tickets not realizing they're getting a story from the Bible.

Then again, with the way they murdered the Pocahontas story, it'd probably be pretty funny to see how well they butcher this one... might make it worth watching for that alone!

Oh woopty doo ! The ad origianlly said that the actors portraying the movie characters were "picked by God" and they changed that part.

They have a dialogue, and one of the characters IS God.

The ad got edited and it so happened that the word "God" got edited out.

No, I got that from YOUR article, the edited portion was the part that said the actors were picked by God.

So you think GOD held auditions for the movie, and personally cast those actors. Well OK dear, believe what you want.

Anyone who believe "FAUX news" shouldn't be wagging their finger at where others get their news.

Do you really think it is appropriate to claim that God hand picked the actors?

Are you really shocked to find out that movies & ads get edited several times before the final product ?

I went to the site and sent an email encouraging Disney to stand up for God since He has granted them many, many blessings all these years for producing good family films that everyone can feel good about. Most of Americans believe in God and Disney needs to be aware they will be offended by this removal of God from their ads.

They apparently realize that fundamentalist Christianity has worn out its welcome and they are afraid of losing box office. Do they really think anyone will be fooled?

BTW, do you know who does the voice of God in the movie? Elliott Gould. What? Jerry Seinfeld wasn't available?

Not sure, maybe they should put Homer Simpson's line about God being his favourite fictional character in their ads.

A movie about the stupidity of the ten commandments would be a good idea.
