I think it looks kind of silly when people sit on just one side of a booth....it's easier to play footsie across the table ;)

typically id say sit across from each other. you can look at your date and guage body language and flirt and whatnot. sitting side beside makes for an awkward conversation and a lot of head turning and elbow bumping.
of course the best strategy would be to sit down first, almost to the end of the booth, but not so far as to make it look obvious, and see where your date chooses to sit, then you dont have to worry about making that decision ;)

I always did the sit across thing. My current boy likes to sit next to me and I like it.

It depends on how many people are sitting at the table.
With a double date the ladies sit next to thier date but accross from the other guy.
The two of you should sit accross from each other but if you have to sit at a bar, sit beside him!

no it does not depend on how many dates you have had --- across from her --- you can watch her as you talk and get a better idea of her body language --- sitting next to each other sounds good it is too difficult to make eye contact

i sit across. that way you can look into the eyes of your date when you talk, and to some people, that makes things said mean more. and no it is not to look at her "goods". relationships shouldn't be all about sex. grow up.

Most of the time I prefer to sit across from them so I can look at them easily. Of course, if I am feeling romantic then I would prefer to sit next to him so we can have skinship.

well it really depends on what type of place you...generally sitting across is easier...you can look directly at them and know weather or not they are having a good time and see what they may think of certain things...the face says it all!!!!
