You've actually answered it yourself. We spiritualist believe true man is spirit and is eternal, whereas mortal or flesh and blood man is unreal and temporal. The more we deny mortal man and accept spiritual man the more we experience heaven . Right now and right here. Jesus said many times that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Something at hand is readily available.

Great definition. I like to contrast the word as pointing to the spirit and spirituality as the goal that explains all. The spirit of truth is the meaning or spirit of the words. Words are symbols of life, spirit is life itself and spirituality is living in the spirit. Spirit is somehow less without accurate knowledge, but it interprets the knowledge and life. They go together. Religion is so often just the rules, words, without understanding.
Joel 2:28 "And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.
29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days."
See how it says "and also my servants." All means saint and sinner, as the spirit changes people into ex-sinners. Well, more or less. Who's perfect yet? Even science has been prophecying the expected mind shift that will save the world. Hm.

To put what a lot of people here are saying in a simple context, Religion comes from outside of us (through the medium of culture and "mythology", among other things), and Spirituality comes from within us (the belief that there is something Divine in every living thing).

Religion comes from the Latin words "Re" and "Legare" which means "to reunite". Hence Religion is to reunite with God. Spirituality on the otherhand is giving emphasis on our spiritual being, which is the real man. The true man is the spirit within us, not this flesh which the spirit is dwelling. This two words are different but interrelated as you have to be spiritual in order to be reunited (Religion) with your creator.

Religion pertains to all the ritual associated with a spirituality.
Popery, figurines, kneeling when you pray, iconography, baptism, bar(t)mitvahs, etc. are all religious activities.
Spirituality is the actual belief and faith one carries.
Religion can often aid in getting one in a spiritual state of being- i.e. meditating on a flower, 7 hail mary's, singing in a synagogue, wearing a yamulke, or celebrating Ramadan- these are all religious activities meant to bring us to a more spiritual state of mind.

Religion to me is the politics of belief, the whole you can or can't do this. Spirituality is having a personal relationship with Jesus or who ever you worship. This was a very good question wish I was a stupid level 2 to vote, sorry

There you are. Yes, religion is a way of life, more like, tradition we follow. Whereas, spirituality is a condition of our inner self. I agree.

I would say there is no difference. They are both names for a man made belief system. If there is a difference it is in the practice not the substance.
