No, I don't think so. I guess it depends. If it's a girl I know well (ie. been friends for a long time, but never dated), it would be ok. But if it's a girl I don't know well, I like to keep the first date hands-off.
The reason?
It's easier to get to know someone when you are relaxed and not blinded by hormones!
Also, you don't make HER uncomfortable by putting physical expectations on her.
And, I have a 'friends first' policy. Many people go for the passionate romance right off (and we all love passion), but that is not a foundation for a strong relationship.
Hence all the bad relationships going around, IMO.
Respect first, romance second!

depends on how old you are --- for me (as an old fart) yes why not and ill even say go all the way if the lady is willing
