Hi, I had mega bad pains on Saturday and the doctor told me it might be kidney stones or an urinary infection. The pains were just below my ribs on my back and didnt come very frequently but when they came they where a 9/10 pain.

I have read a bit about kidney stones since then and wanted to know how long would they generally take to pass? I have been having different pains today where appendix sit 5/10 pain( I have no appendix tho) could this be the stones still travelling?

If the kidney stones are bigger than the diameter of the ureter, it will not pass through the flow of urine. Microscopic examination of urine may sometimes reveal minute crystals and the presence of Red blood cells (Hematuria).
Urinary calculi are solid particles in the urinary system. They may cause pain, nausea, vomiting, hematuria, and, possibly, chills and fever from secondary infection. Diagnosis is based on urinalysis and noncontrast spiral CT. Treatment is with analgesics, antibiotics for infection, and, sometimes, instrumentation, shock wave lithotripsy, or endoscopic surgery.

Did the doctor order xrays? ultrasound?. Culture of urine?

If he didnt, please go back at the next time you have the painful episodes.

You need tests.
