I've been talking to a girl for a while and then asked her out. She agreed to it but then said her parents won't let her date anyone. She's 19 and I'm 20. We agreed to meet in town to go on a date to the movies. I'm just wondering if someone could give me advice here. She's an adult now and should be able to freely make her own choices but I'm wondering if I want to play mission impossible when dating her. She's nice and I really want to date her. So basically here's my question: What should I do here? Should I keep seeing her and see what happens? Can someone tell me stories of dating in this type of situation? I just want to know how to procede here. She said that if we begin to get really close then she will break the story of us to her parents I think to try to get their approval. I want to keep seeing her but I just keep imagining her father chasing me down the street with a baseball bat. Her father is strict and won't let her choose her own major for college. Tell me what to do

Ask her to meet her father. Spend time with her at her house playing games (board games or video games), watching a movie.

You need to find out just WHY her dad is like this. That will help you determine if you should even bother with her anymore. For instance, is she a different ethnic background than you? I once dated a Greek guy but his dad didn't like it one bit because he wanted his son to be with a Greek lady. We eventually had to break up because what was the point? he would never marry me.

Is he a religious fundamentalist? Christian? Many Christians are starting to move away from dating and more into "courting". Courting is when you spend time at her house with her and daddy close by.

Is he just over protective? You probably have a better chance with him just being overprotective than that other 2 possibilities I've mentioned.

Get on the good side of the dad! Be upfront with him. Tell him you like his daughter. Be respectful to him. Validate his feelings and concerns (but don't be condesending about it).

I wouldn't sneek around. Tell her you want to be up front about this. You want to meet her dad. I know she's 19 but if she still lives at home her dad still rules.

Hey man nothing is wrong with being a daddy's girl. Her parents are doing the best for her so that she'll have a decent future. Guys is not a biggy for her parents right now. They probably just want her to graduate then she can do whatever after that. I dont know what id do if I were you though. Ill probably just wait since you love thay much.

Best thing you can do is get to know the parents. Pretend your a friend for awhile until you can ask for permission to date her when you think the time is right. Or you can go with plan B tell them to screw off and hook up with her and get her to move out lol

Tell her that you wont beat around the bush. She is an adult and can make her own decisions. Her father has no say. She needs to act her age and not worry about Daddy's permission.

Tell her to move out. Seriously, I mean how old does one need to be to date. That's crazy. So is not being able to major in what she wants to.
