To me it feels like I am in love with my Lord Jesus Christ because He put down His life on the cross for me , for my sins, and He died, just for me. And that is why I love Him so and I tell Him that every day.

Having a personal relationship with Jesus is being saved. Jesus gave his life so we too could have eternal life. The moment you ask Jesus to save you He will save your soul from an eternity in hell. I have faith that Jesus is able to do that for me, that I will have a home in Heaven because Jesus died for my sins so I could die to my sins, not physically, but spiritually. It means that I can go to Jesus with anything, sorrow, disappointment, a broken heart and He is my comforter. He gives peace that passes all understanding. You can have the same thing. Read these scriptures, and they will help you understand. Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23, Romans 10: 9-10, Romans 10: 13. This is called the Roman road to salvation. Also read John 3:16 and John 14:6. It isn't about being perfect, it is about loving Jesus, forgiveness and having faith that Jesus is able to do all things. I just said a prayer for you that you would read and find Jesus as you savior too if that is what you are looking for.

Yep, it is not unlike a relationship that you would have with your very best friend! The more that you learn about Jesus Christ, through His Word, and thru fellowship with others in a Bible-believing Christ centered (Mainstream) Church, the more you will fall in love with God! There is no "feeling" like that of when the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in your heart! You know with perfect assurance that this world in which we currently dwell is NOT your home, and that when we DO reach home, (Heaven) you will be able to see Jesus, face 2 face..and every trial that you have ever had to endure will be worth every second, as you get to know pure joy inexpressible! It is my sincerest prayer that you will take the opportunity to seek the TRUTH today, while it may be found!
You will NOT regret it!!

Everyone's "relationship" with the dead prophet is perceived differently. You could just as well ask any other Christian the same thing because they will never know what YOUR relationship with your imaginary dead guy is like. I used to be a Christian and my "relationship" with Christ felt just like talking to myself when I prayed. Nothing 'clicked' or changed, it was all just however I perceived it. Christians have told me I was never truly a Christian since I am now an atheist because according to the bible, god doesn't let people stop believing in him. But by definition, a relationship must involve multiple parties so in reality, no one has a relationship with christ.

Before Jesus left the Earth, he promised us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God. And what Jesus was saying is that God would come live in us. And I can tell you, he delivered.

So Christians are two natured being. They have the same old sin nature and God's influence through His Spirit at the same time.

Someone who is consistently trusting God is leaning more towards His Spirit than they are towards sin nature. The more that develops, the relationship gets closer between the believer and God. That's a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

First, it is as different for each person as two people having a personal relationship with yet another person.

Secondly, the phrase "personal relationship with Jesus Christ" is not a biblical phrase but is meant only to be a contrast with an "impersonal" connection with our Lord....as some who just "believe" that Jesus lived but .....do not talk with Him (pray)...... nor listen to Him(hear what He has said by the "Word" mor by His Spirit in their hearts......nor are in any way guided by Him.....nor look for His promised blessings.....nor receive personal help from Him.

But to those who know Him in this way, He is alway available with power.

All of us are sinners by natue, the more we sin...the faster we run from god:

John 3:19
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

When you have a relationship with Jesus and are truly born again, you have the holy spirit living inside. You will still sin, hopefully less but it still happens. When you sin you have a spiritual connection with christ and you can ask for forgiveness of sins in Jesus name.

To a non christian sin doesnt really bother as they are already spiritually dead.

Isaiah 59:2
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

But once you become born again, you start to disdain sin.And we remain strong in Gods holy spirit when we stay away from sin. So to have Gods holy spirit and walk in continual repentance to keep spiritually alive,
I would say thats what it means to have a relationship with JESUS :)

Having a personal relationship with Christ is like having a deep friendship with anyone. Think of Christ as your best friend. You spend time with your best friend. You get to know what he likes and doesn't like. You do think to make your friend happy. You talk to your friend. You let your friend in on things that are going on in your life -- the good and the bad.

Developing a relationship with Christ is just like developing a relationship with a good friend. You just have to see that your methods are a little bit different. You learn what your friends likes. To learn what Christ likes, you read scripture and learn his commands. Learn what makes Him happy. To talk to Christ, you pray. Praying is a conversation. You talk to Christ; you listen to Christ. Tell him how your day is going. Tell him what is on your mind. It's just like talking to your best friend, and in some ways, it's much, much better. Your friend cannot forgive you of sins. Christ can. Christ can give you love that is unconditional. Christ can give you peace that no one in this world can give you. It's a gift from him and him alone.

Also, one great way to have develop that relationship is to tell others about him and what he's doing in your life. When you have a great friend, you don't just keep your friend to yourself. You introduce your friend to other friends of yours and even your family members. You let other people know that you claim this person as your friend. Let the world know you claim Christ as a friend. Don't hide that. Spread the word that the greatest friend in this world is Christ Jesus.

Ask Jesus into your heart..He will come in and live with you FOREVER. You will never be free from Him until you tell Him you don't want Him in your heart anymore and reject Him completely. Then He will leave and NEVER come back, no matter how many times you beg and ask Him. This is a serious commitment we make with Him when we ask Him into our hearts. It is only a one time deal and He comes in to stay. If you fall, he will pick you up. He will be with you through thick and thin FOREVER but you will have to walk in unison with him or in one accord to have a happy life. There will always be an internal struggle if the Lord wants you to go one way and you want to go another. We have to yield to the Lord completely. Then we will be at perfect peace with Him.

Some christians are fine with going to church, giving in offerings, and occasionally helping with the church, praying, and reading the word of God. But a personal relationship. That is something totally different. You can become so close to God, that he becomes your best friend. You are able to talk to him. Not pray, but have a one on one talk with him. You can feel his presence at all times. He becomes not a God afar off, but a God close at hand. He becomes the first person you want to think of in the morning, and the last person you think of at night. And driving in the car, can be one of the most intimate moments with you and the savior. Begin talking with him, and he will show up right in that car with you. The atheists will probably think I am off my rocker, but once you have that personal relationship with God, you don't care what other people think.

We should include God in our daily lives the same way we would any other member of our family, only a much more important one! We should pray to Him, read His word, and meditate on verses in an effort to get to know Him better and be able to do His will. We should pray for wisdom, which is the most valuable asset we could ever have. We should take our requests to Him, asking in Jesus' name. Jesus said, “You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name” (John 15:16). Jesus is the one who loves us enough to give His life for us, and He is the one who bridged the gap between us and God. And God is the one who sent Jesus to do it; they are one in the same, and both deserve all of our honor, praise, and worship.
