Why is it so many ppl r so damn irrational when they form arguements? Basing them off hasty generalizations, Slippery slopes and ad ignorantium.

Feels good at the time. Logical thought requires training, intelligence, and effort; not a lot of people have all three.

Hummm...depends on WHERE you are searching for "reasoning" & "logic"? People are complicated and most are extremely difficult to understand, as you have NOT "walked in their shoes" and therefore you do NOT know, nor can you understand, how they have formulated what THEY consider reason &/or logic. Many folks out here (especially in cyber-space) are just here for the opportunity to share their ignorance with any that will listen.) However, as for true logic & reasoning abilities there are also a lot of folks out here (in cyber-space) that not only use logic & reasoning abilities quite well, they can actually direct you to some very sophisticated web-sites that can lead you to have to ability to formulate a much better question, gaining you much more knowledge, which may provide you with a portion of what could be considered wisdom, as well!

To answer your question, you must first look into your claim that people are irrational when they form arguments. You're just proving yourself to have no logic since you just generalized AND showed your ignorance.
and I think reading your "question" lowered my IQ to the point where I'm not quite sure if what I just said made any sense anymore...

Because (1) most people have not had a course in logic and (2) most people just believe what they want to believe, rather than arriving at a conclusion based on fact. When you just believe what you want, you have to invent what sometimes are very specious arguments to defend your beliefs.
