I just answered this question, and then looked at the other answers. A lot of people say both, these people are hypocrites, looking for the easy way out, disagree? Prove me wrong. by the way, questions for Christians, the Earth is 6000 years old right? If I am correct in this (as I believe I am, Christians believe this right?) then this is proof enough.

lol, lots of negative responses here, some of you may have misunderstood me. I was under the impression that Christians (maybe just the early ones) think that the earth was only 600 years old. I'm assuming none of the Christians believe this now and probably because science has proven it wrong with radioactive dating. Also it seems as though religion is forced to change and adapt as people believe other things, and this shows exactly what I am talking about. How can you claim a religion is right when everytime every religion changes and dies out. Right? no one believes in Zeus anymore, and no one will believe in God in a few years, so there it is.

I personally don't think that you can believe in both evolution and the Christian God, since if you believe in the Christian God you're sort of obligated to believe in the Christian bible, and the bible starts with Genesis, which modern science (and evolution) contradict.
Just for starters, the order in which things were created. You'd think that if God wanted to establish a bit of credibility for himself in the modern world, he'd get this part right. But nooo...and that's just the beginning...

There are theist evolutionist although the bible looks noticeably sparkling approximately evolution being fake. additionally, there heavily isn't data for Macro evolution. there is micro evolution and survival of the fittest, although there is not any checklist of any type that shows one animal growing to be to be an fullyyt diverse species. you do no longer might desire to be a youthful Earther although. The bible does no longer declare any age for the Earth. there is data that makes it look as though the Earth might desire to be extremely youthful even though it relatively is all speculative and would not truly coach something.

Actually you can, and the Pope (who knows at least something about the subject) does. Evolution, now a proven fact, is used by biologists because it is useful: it makes predictions which are borne out in practice. However, one can, if one pleases, believe that god set the whole thing up in the first instance; the only problem with such a view is that it is provably useless: it can't predict anything.

YBy its very nature, belief has no need for logic. One CAN believe in God, evolution, pots or gold at the end of rainbows and that wishing on stars or praying makes wishes come true. One can even believe in Santa Claus. the Easter Bunny and unicorns. And No one, not you, not me, and nor the man in the moon can tell anyone that they can't believe in everything they chose to believe.

A person can believe in God without being a Christian (or a Muslim or a Jew). A person can believe in God and think that the Bible contains important messages without thinking it's a literal account of history. I'm sorry if you can't wrap your brain around that, but I assure you it's true.

I have to disagree with you on this one.
I believe in both God and evolution. I do not believe in a literal reading (as in 6 days of 24 hours each) of the creation story.

Yes, you can believe both. Things evolve, that is a fact. It's also been proven (long ago) that the Earth has been around for much, much longer than 6000 years. And I am in no way a "hypocrite" for saying so. It isn't as if God says "Thou shalt close thine eyes and ears to the ways of science."

Many believers think evolution is the method God uses to create. Come on, you don't really believe the Earth is 6000 years old, do you?

WTF are you talking about? You're an idiot. One, I'm not a Christian. Two, I don't believe in evolution, I know it's true. Three, I believe in MANY gods...and one. Go figure.
Do some more growing up. Then ask a question with respect.
Ditzo...I'm pagan. The oldest religion known to man. Science only proves everything I happen to already know, BTW. I love science! :) I practice my own brand of Wicca..it's called Kerriwynism. I happen to think any truly religious person puts their very own spin on whatever religion they follow. So, accordingly as you grow, so will your beliefs.
