the first thing you want to do is contact the Guam Department of Agriculture to see if gerbils are allowed. They are illegal in some states.
Department of Agriculture
Animal Health Section
142 Dairy Road
Mangilao, Guam 96913
Telephone Number
(671) 734-3942/3 Fax: (671) 734-6569
e-mail: salassu2@yahoo.com

the other thing you need to be aware of is quarantine. They will be able to answer that as well.

After you find out if you CAN bring a gerbil to Guam, then I would research the cost and what airlines will do it.

I honestly don't think your gerbil would survive that long of a flight.

I love rats and gerbils! We had 2 rats a couple years ago and they are very cute and lovable! They love to run around and play! The only thing is that rats stink pretty bad. Clean out their cage often and it shouldn't be that big of a problem. My rats got tumors and died. Gerbils main downfall is that there awful gnawers and scratchers. They can and will gnaw and scratch through a plastic cage. The only down side to a rat is their kleptomaniac nature. Rodent's life spans are no longer than 5 years. The rat will live from 2 to 3 years. The gerbil will live three to five years.Gerbils will become sexually mature at the age of two months and Gerbils can be housed together in the same cage. Before you buy a rat Check out the rat's coat, make sure it is glossy and healthy looking. Also make sure there is no discharge coming from the nose, mouth or eyes. Is he listless or hunched up with a ruffled looking coat? This is an unhealthy rat. Make sure they are friendly. A friendly rat will be inquisitive. Rats rarely bite. Though baby rats will nibble your fingers. This nipping is very normal and is not considered actual biting. If a rat comes up and licks your hand you have found a very sweet and loving rat. Rodents are sweet natured and intelligent. They are easy and inexpensive to keep as pets. Perfect for a urban home, requiring very little space. Rodents make sensational pets for little children! If i were you I would go for the rat! GOOD LUCK! :D

Hmmm - I think you have your answer. All pet shipping companies will ship aboard aeroplanes so, it sounds like a "no go" for your gerbil

try fedex, they can ship animals under special conditions. Call one of their offices and ask for information. Also try different air cargo companies. You don't have to go exclusively witgh an animal shipping service.
