I disagree that the Luke passage can be summarized as an affirmative "yes, he asked God to save him" because he says to him _if thou be willing_ remove the cup. It was basically a hypothetical created for the purposes of demonstrating that there was no other way for mankind to be saved excepting that he die. So in other words, he says "no" in both verses. Further, the two verses are said at completely different times. Only the former is dealing explicitly with the time prior to his crucifixion.

One time God asked Jesus to do something very difficult. Jesus prayed about it, as we see here. He prayed: “If you wish, remove this cup from me.” By praying this, Jesus showed that it was not always easy to do God’s will. But how did Jesus finish his prayer? Do you know?—

Jesus finished it by saying: “Let, not my will, but yours take place.” (Luke 22:41, 42) Yes, he wanted God’s will to be done, not his own. And he went ahead and did what God wanted rather than what he thought would be best.

What can we learn from this?— We learn that it is always right to do what God says, even though it may not be easy to do. But we learn something else. Do you know what it is?— We learn that God and Jesus are not the same person, as some people say. Jehovah God is older and knows more than his Son, Jesus, does.

Jesus moved a little way from the three men to pray, and twice he asked His Father to remove the cup of wrath He was about to drink, but each time He submitted to the Father’s will. He was “exceedingly sorrowful unto death” but God sent an angel from heaven to strengthen Him (Luke 22:43).

This is an interesting question. Christ new all things God the father had in store for him, yet as his son asked in prayer virtually this. For if it be possible may there be another way. This may be almost borderline sacrilegious, but in my way of thinking we look at the trinity as one All in all its one governing power as one and three parts. In Revelation, at the end of this world Christ hands over dominion over the earth to the father again and sits at his fathers right side. So in this fact knowing that his fathers wisdom reigns supreme think for yourself for a minute. If you knew what torture lay in store for you would you not opt for a better easier way to save the world than what he went through if it were possible. I believe he was ready and willing to do what was expected and asked. But that stops no one even God from hating suffering. He knew his blood would pay for our sins. He knew it was to be maybe the worst tortuous event of all time. I'd be scared too? Remember to be God means knowing all things and that meant that he knew before he prayed there was no other way. Just as predestination exists we don't know our fates so we cant use that as an excuse If he knows all he knows who will make it and who will not. Just like he knew how he was to die, but prayed either way.

No, He didn't. Being human as well as divine, He didn't look forward to this part of His ministry on earth. And He expressed this in prayer to His Father Who had sent Him for this purpose.

Heb 12:1-4
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. 4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

He said if there was any other way... This is because he knew exactly what was coming. He was 100% man and 100% God. We are told that he was tempted in all points like us yet without sin.

As a human sure he wanted to pass the cup along and find another way. As God he knew there was no other way so he submitted.

No, but he did ask if perhaps there was some way he could not go through with it and still comply with God's will. Later, he expressed his extreme sense of abandonment by God while on the cross, so perhaps he had still hoped that God would save him at the last minute -- the same way God spared Isaac from being sacrificed by Abraham.

NO.

(Matthew 26:54) In that case, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must take place this way?”

Jesus was SENT to give his precious life for us.

To " pay the price" to have death lifted from us.

This will happen in the future..not too distant.

(Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Yes, he did. But he submitted himself to death on a cross because it was the Father's will that we be saved.

"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."
- Philippians 2:5-11
