Did you bring insurance and driving records and submit them? If you didn't, you are a new driver as far as insurance is considered. If you did submit them, you should have been told up front. Insurance companies have their own rules for which claims experience letters are considered.

The insurance company has no way to verify your driving record outside of the country, so they consider you a higher risk, just like a new driver!

Insurance companies have their own rules on these things. Try requesting a copy of your driving record from DVLA and show it to the insurance company. They may give you a discount.

The only insurance history that counts in Canada is Canadian and American.
It's for a variety reasons - such as the regulations are different, UW rules are different, etc

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do but start building your history again
