What jobs should a Juvenile Corrections Officer (other than security) in the business sector?

I've got a BA in psychology and have 4 years experience working at a detention center and 2 years working as a teacher's aide in a Special Ed school.

I'm curious as to what type of work those experiences could help me get.

Make a list of things you like to do and things at which you are skilled. Don't worry if the things don't exactly pertain to a particular job, just make the list.
Second, make a list of activities that you find boring, difficult, or things you will actively avoid. This may give you ideas about the sorts of careers that you would find engaging and enjoyable rather than a drudge and a paycheck.
(Presumably from your education and work experience, you like to understand what makes people tick and have a greater than average desire to help people.)
Go to the library and talk to a librarian. There are all sorts of books with self guided tests to check for your strengths and weaknesses and suggest careers. (Aptitude tests.)
Most colleges offer some sort of testing for their students as part of their career centers. Many of them offer the same tests and counseling to non-students for a fee. Most likely, they could also suggest a career counselor to give you some one on one guidance. (This sounds like an extravagance, but if you could jump start a new direction for a new career for a few hundred dollars, wouldn't that be a bargain for the opportunities presented and time and frustration saved?)

Your experience working in Corrections and in Special Education could be translated to a job working with people (or difficult people). Maybe a job in customer service (like call centers) is up your alley.

Hi, I am so jealous. I wanted to be a JCO after graduation back in 1975 but did not pursue it....anyway, with your experience, I would suggest working towards a 911 call dispatcher or working towards the special needs career! Good for you! My son has autism and we need more therapist for guidance. Hope this helps and good luck! :D
