All words of encouragement are a form of blessing.
But not all blessings are words of encouragement.

Well, I think words of encouragement can definitely bless someone who is discouraged. However, when I think of blessings, I don't just think of words. I also think of action taking place. Let me give you an example: If you were starving and homeless, which would make you feel more blessed? Having someone come to you and say I am praying for you and I hope you eventually find food to eat and a place to stay, or having someone come to you with food and giving you shelter? Of course you'd want the food and shelter. That would be more of a blessing to you, because this would actually solve your problem. Words are wonderful, but I prefer seeing words in action. That is the real blessing!

Not really, while it is true that when someone is depressed a kind and loving word can lift that one's spirit, if a person has a physical problem of say hunger, or disability or something someone can help with, wouldn't it be more of a blessing to actually give the help the person needs rather than just encouragingly say be well fed and on your way. I cannot see how this could be either encouraging or blessing someone with a problem.

Words of encouragement so exactly that-encourage and blessing a person can come in many ways, like, if you needed a hundred dollars and I gave it to you, then I would be blessing you.

Words of encouragement can BE a blessing to a person,
but "blessing" a person is asking God for specific things for that person.

Words of encouragement are not blessings in them selves. But if they are taken to heart by the person you are giving them to, they can sure be a blessing to that person.

Yes basically just different aspect, one is human blessing and the other is a holy blessing. They basically work the same to some extent. This is what God wants us to do, encourage one an other, help thy neighbor.

Seems to me when you are giving someone your blessings, you want everything good for them. And I think giving your blessings is, to most people, recieved as a form of encouragement.

words of encouragement are giving the person a mental boost, almost like an inner lift....blessing the person is asking God to intervene and protect them
