She just got up from her cat bed, and I noticed that she's favoring her right hing leg and is kind of jumping on the other one when walking. When I touched it (to see if I can spot a thorn or something), she hissed loudly and batted my hand. She never does that normally so, obviously, she's in some kind of distress. She ate normally and is purring slightly on her cat bed now. I'll be calling our vet tomorrow morning but any and all opinions and advice are welcome now!

I'd like the opinion of people who are knowledgeable about cats and/or own cats. Thank you!

Thanks to everybody for your advice! It turned out to be a strain. Our cat's almost not limping anymore and is doing good.

I would hold off on the Vet for a few days. I am guessing your cat is an outdoor cat?

My Jasmine is a siamese and she loves to spend most of the nice days outside. She's active and we see her running and hunting around in the backyards on our street. There are other cats, dogs, squirrels, rabbits, deer, birds, moles, bees, bugs, etc. There are decks to jump off, uneven terrain. Mainly, theirs lots of trouble for her to get into.

I was a little worried when I noticed my can with a limp on day, and being the currious guy that I am I rubbed the paw that was limping. She gave an uncharactoristic meow/hiss and pulled away, may have tried to bite, dont remember. I decided to keep an eye on her for the time being, and would have taken her to the vet if there was noticable change in her behavior. But, although she stayed in bed for most of the day only limping downstairs for some chow, in a few days she was fine again. My cat HATES HATES HATES the vet, and now I am glad that I didnt take her.

But if you have any doubts, here is what I would do. First, take a closer look at her leg TOMORROW, try to gently bend it and see how it bends, see how she reacts too. Chances are its just a little sore.

Cats may be more durrable than humans. If you spend all day running around outside and had a limp the next day, I doubt a trip to the doctors would be urgent.

If you notice any kind of cut or lasceration at the area of trouble, then you may want to visit the vet, in order to warn off infection and insure proper healing. But if I were you Ide just be gentle with it, give it love, maybe some cream or a treat and perhaps keep him/her inside for a few days. Visits to the vet can be costly, they take up time, and your cat will hate you for it. Just my opinion.....

Sounds like she has a wound on her leg. You are right to take her to the vet, because the sooner it's treated the better.
I have three cats, and between all of them, we've made quite a few trips to the vet for this sort of thing.
She may have gotten bitten by another cat or got caught on something & gotten scratched. Whatever it is, the vet will give you some pills & medicine to put on the wound.
Your cat will be fine as long as you get her treated right away. I hope your cat gets well soon.

She probably took a leap and landed on something hard, or maybe got bit by something.I would give it a day or so.
incidentally, a cat will purr even when in the worst pain so it is not a good barometer as to the cats' well being.

Cats are very good at hiding when there are hurt from, so if yours is acting like his leg is bothering him enough to be noticeable I would take it seriously. Cats in pain will sometimes still purr to comfort themselves. She may have injured herself(even cats get clutsy some times) If she is still limping tomorrow go to the vet asap.

Honestly could be a bit of an infection...possibly kidney...I didn't have a cat with this problem...but I did have a dog and he behaved the same way...so your doing the best thing by going to the vet.
Better safe than sorry anyhow! Hope all goes well.

Maybe something bit her or she cut her leg. If you can't see anything wrong with it, then maybe she twisted or sprained it. You might also check her pads or the areas between them to see if there's something lodged there. I definitely would take her to the vet. Cats don't always purr because they're happy and contented. Sometimes they do it as a way to try to comfort themselves when they're in pain.

She may have injured her leg or may have got stung by a bee or something but I think everything thats best about animals comes from one person that has studied them and is an expert on them leave that work to the vet :) Just my opinion she may have injured sprained or got stung by something on her leg.

Cats are incredibly self-sufficient. If she is sleeping peacefully now, Im sure she is ok, for the time being. It is a good idea on your part to take her (or at least call) to the vet tomorrow.

Well... her leg hurts. She may have cut herself or gotten stung by something. Just watch her and try to get a look at it later. You may want to take her to a vet if it looks infected.

Has she been outside lately? Have you broken any glasses or dishes or anything that she could have stepped on?

She obviously has somehow hurt this back leg.

You have the best advice -- get her in to the Vet as Soon as possible.

Her way of telling you not to touch it because it hurts,
was her hissing at you, and smacking you.

Aren't feline furbabies just fantastic with how they let us know !
