There's a friend of mine that's been getting nerve pain(sharp pain that makes her scream out loud) in her left arm(no chest pain) and she thinks it's from drinking yerba mate tea for several weeks. I love her a lot because she's my mom. I keep telling her to go to the doctor. She said they won't do a thing about her. What to do? What does this pain mean?

I dont think "Tea" could make this happen, but to me it sounds like your dear mother definetly has a pinched nerve.
I did try that drink once though called "SOBE" and had an asthma attack..

MAYBE SHE COULD BE ALLERGIC TO SOMETHING - AND THIS IS THE WAY SHE IS REACTING TO SOMETHING IN THAT TEA (I am VERY SERIOUS)

But my questions are.did your mom fall and hurt her neck or has she twisted her arm

MOM, I dont think you have anything to worry about if you "go to the dr" you will just get an answer to your question as to why you hurt so bad. I think the Dr may just do a nerve conduction study, and that only involved a small wire around the finger to see if ther eis any impingment somewhere...
I suggest that maybe you get an ace bandage and wrap that arm, or Go to a Medical Supply store and ask for an "elbow pad" this way if you bang your arm, it wont hurt so bad. ( i fell in December after a surgery I had and ended up pincing the ulnar nerve at my elbow, I was told to wear that pad, IT HELPS! The dr can also give you a shot of lidocaine or cortisone to help with pain., OK

I suggest to ease anxiety and make the visit go smoother, think about and make not of -What helps, or does, times of day it is worse. Was there a Past injury that could have caused this to become inflammed.

i can tell you, probably an MRI of head, neck , 2. Nerve conduction study,
treatment: Shots for pain- (small injection, to a Facet block in the neck,)
elbow pads, to maybe eve a brace and if the nerve is really trapped - then SURGERY

they may even just try Physical therapy for a while and see how that works...

You don't mention just where this pain occurs in the arm. Nor do you imply there is any motion that is accomplished to bring it about. Leaving little to go on, to be able to give any type of accurate information.

Any pain is the bodies way of letting us know something is wrong and needs to be attended to. Guessing what is causing the problem does nothing to take care of the problem.

Is highly recommended to have some determination as to the cause of the symptom. A proper diagnosis and treatment program should be instilled into your mother's thinking. Leaving this problem unattended can lead to other complications.

the nerve pain is more than likely NOT related to drinking the tea.

she might have a pinched or damaged nerve in her arm causing the pain. in any case, she needs to make an appt to see her dr to have it checked out.

the longer she waits to have it evaluated, the greater the risk of the damage becoming permanent.

hope this helps

This type of pain can mean anything.
A heart problem doesn't always cause pain in the chest.
I think she should go to a doctor if the pain continues.

They can treat some types of nerve pain, but can not reverse damage from certain neuropathic conditions if not treated early.

Set up a fake tombstone on a table with her name on it with it saying R.I.P. and a note with the message : now aren't you sorry that you didn't go see a Dr,???? with love........don't forget the "Plastic" flowers
