Not really, the superbug is called such because it's resistent to most if not all antiboitics. Mainly a big problem in hospitals but it is circulating in the community. one thing would be to limit the use of antibiotics. Many people use them too often or inappropriately (like for colds or flu). Washing hands and general cleanliness is a fabulous way of preventing the spread of germs.

Nope. Even in the modern era, thousands of people died annually from bacterial illness - even in Western countries and even before the emergence of the unfortunately named "superbug" (ever notice how any infectious disease that worries scientists is called a "superbug?" - same thing with SARS and the bird flu).

All the recent research findings showed was that some percentage of the thousands of people who die annually from bacterial illness happen to die from a strain of bacteria called methicillin resistant staphlycoccus aureus (MRSA).

It IS a problem but it's one that needs to be worried about by health care professionals (who need to wash their hands more often, isolate patients more often, and change their antibiotic prescribing patterns) and research scientists (who need to direct more attention to new treatments for staph aureus so that we'll be ready in case MRSA learns to be resistant to the remaining antibiotics that kill it).

Life for everyone else continues as normal. Be comforted by the fact that there still are antibiotics that kill staph aureus - not as many as before, granted, but still some left.

If you have children? Yes. If you work in Hospitals? Yes. If you work somewhere that puts you in contact with a large number of people? Yes.
If you think the super-bug is bad, google "killer amoeba."
Get your flu shot. Carry hand sanitizer and use it often. Wash your hands often. Carry disinfecting wipes for wiping off the handle of the grocery cart. It's good to be safe.

Super bugs have been around for as long as there has been people. The BLACK PLAGUE killed a million people. You live in an age where you can take precautions. Wash your hands frequently. use hand sanitizer. Those 2 things alone will help protect you a lot.
