It depends on the girl. For instance: I am attracted to jerks 'with a good side'. I know that they're jerks. I kinda like the fact that they're jerks. Non-jerks can be attractive too, but I always feel like they're too nice. My friends don't understand the attraction, and neither do I really, but that's just how I am.
This guy? It's possible that he'll get a lot of girls. If he has some brains, some brawn, and some musical talent, he's already got a lot of attracting power, and mental instability is pretty much par for the course.

You have a lot to learn.....first...there is someone for everyone. There are factors that turn women on and being a jerk does not exclude them. A girl will be with a guy with muscles because she has never done that. A girl might be a groupie and do a guitarist just because music is an aphrodisiac.
Your question has a feeling of jealousy to it. Did you lose out? I am a bit older and girls make mistakes just like we so. If you are a good guy hang in there. Girls experiment and are hurt and lose out on love before they can realize the benefits of a good guy that was there all along.
Go to collage make your money and you will win in the end. Buff guitar guy will be a skid row fat bum in 10 years as you build your fortune and date supermodels.....

Mentally unstable, like not actively seeking treatment? That's never a good idea, but for some reason, there are always girls willing to put up with anything just to be with a smart, sexy musician. There is no guarantee, however, that she will be the most mature, stable person herself.

Avoid. The mentally unstable part would be a deal breaker.

If fiction is any guide--and it usually is--there are plenty of females who would find that sort of person attractive. If such a guy is famous, you can bet he's got groupies.
I do note that one girl at a time can't "flock to" anything.
And I wonder what the *point* of your question is. Are you trying to write fiction (book, movie, videogame), or what?

I would say a girl that is young and just having fun might find this guy super interesting, but a girl that is alittle more put together and has plans for herself would know better and stay away.
