I assume that you are talking about the world- wide- flood mentioned in the Bible. Note that it is interesting that every culture - tribe & nation has a world wide flood story. A creation/evolution story & a Higher Power (God) & a version of their afterlife.
I don't think the great flood was part of the initial creation process or we can say that everything since the beginning of our planet up to now is continual creation/evolution.
Perhaps a scientist can tell you the ways the great world wide flood changed the planet. I assume it will be the same with any flood no matter how big or smal lt is.
Our earth is forever changing- some of it in huge ways and other ways slowly.
I personally believe the reason for the flood was that the atmosphere of the earth changed suddenly. The ozone layer was so very thick in the beginning of time that it didin't even rain or snow. The thick layer of moisture alowed humans to live longer. I think the flood was part of sculpting the face of the earth. It was part of the ageing process for humans and the earth.
In the Bible it says that God sent the flood to destroy the evil on the earth. After the flood part of nature---the rainbow- was God's promise to never destroy or punish the world with a world wide flood again.
Those who don't believe in God or Higher Power probably see the world wide flood as a fluke of nature....just part of the evollution process.
Personally I am a creationist/evolutionist

The earth before the flood was a different place.
(1) There was a layer of water above the earth which would have blocked most UV. That water came down during the flood.
(2) The earth was one land mass and was divided during the life of Peleg, after the flood and
(3) The flood did cover the whole land mass.
Science agrees with points 2 & 3 occurred. The flood wiped out land and air creatures definitely. Only a single pair of unclean creatures were aboard the ark. So if they could not replenish ot stand the new environment, alot of species died. Science agrees that they died out very rapidly also.

In Genesis of the Bible, while God is creating the earth it says that he "separated water from water." Many believe that this actually literally means that at the beginning of the earth, water filled the inside of the earth somehow and that the earth's atmosphere included a water canopy (this would account for the nearly millenium-long lifespans of people before the flood). When God flooded the earth due to the corruption of the people, one theory is that not only did the water canopy fall from the sky to the earth as rain, but also that the earth literally cracked (right down the middle of the pacific ocean, actually... you will find a series of underwater mountain ranges there as if the earth had cracked then come together forming mountains). When the earth cracked, the extreme pressure would have forced the water coming out so high that it would fall down as rain. Some water would go so high as to fall down as snow or ice, which, by the way, is the only possible explanation for the sudden ice age the earth experienced.
So the evidence IS there... people only say its not because they don't want to admit to a worldwide flood (because that would mean they would have to admit to the existence of God).
Did you know that EVERY culture on the earth has some type of 'Great Flood' story? Whether its the classic Bible version or a slightly twisted one? (One culture tells the same story in principle, but that instead of building an ark the man rested on a high tree to survive and sent out a duck i believe to determine when it was safe to leave).
Many people believe the ark's location to be on Mt. Ararat in Turkey. Not only have many people claimed to have seen it/gone inside it (one man even accounts that as a young boy hiking the mountain with his uncle, they came across the large wooden structure and he managed to enter through a large hole and saw 'pens' as if animals had been kept there), but there are apparent pictures circulating of a large wooden object resting on the mountain (one of these pictures was from a war airplane flying over the mountain). Large pieces of wood, as well, have been found on Mt. Ararat even though there are no forests for hundreds of miles. Apparently, the ark is currently split in two (almost like the Titanic lol) and its two halves are resting in different locations on the mountain.
Very interesting.

The flood might have been a local event, a global one has way too many problems. Since one answer mentioned fish, the salt water fish and organisms would have died in the influx of fresh water. A global flood would not account for the current fossils any one that says that is willfully ignorant of the facts. One thing people don't realize is that in order to have rainbows occur only after the flood, either the properties of water or light had to had to change, so the color of the sun rise and sunsets would have changed or the color of water would have.
All in all there is no supporting evidence for a global flood. It may have been a local one, but that rather decreases the credibility of the bible as well.

There was no flood. Flood narratives were common before the Noah story developed-- read the Epic of Gilgamesh, for one example. The important thing about the Hebrew flood story is the theological spin the people of Yahweh put on it-- God flooded the earth because humans were so wicked, but afterwards God made a covenant with the people to never again threaten the world with a return to its initial pre-creation chaos.

The flood was a result of Adam's sin. I believe that God kept the flood from happening by His grace until the appointed time. Perhaps if God had not interveneed the flood would have been worse.

The flood happened way after creation..according to the Bible, Noah and his family, along with two of every kind of animal were saved so as to continue life on earth after the flood. Everything and everyone outside of the ark was destroyed.

God was angry with everyone so he sent a flood and told only Noah and his people. Noah built an ark and put two of every creature on it(one male and one female). Then he and his family and everyone who was loyal to God went on the Ark and got saved from the flood. Later Noah sent out a dove 3 times ad on the third the dove came back with a twig. The twig meant the flood was over. They got of the ark and started all over again. I know it doesn't sound too good and that the way that I told it sounds cheesey but that's what they say happened(sord of)

The flood was a local event that covered a part of southern Mesopotamia. I would be happy to say that the flood was nothing more than a legend, but historical evidence for the flood of Noah is perfectly clear, and even lines up with the Genesis time line.

According to Christian mythology, it removed the bad elements from earth.
The reality is we have millions of years of history in the polar ice caps and no flood was ever detected. Then there is the amount of energy that would be released by removing that water. That doesn't even go into the fact that humans would be horribly inbred from the few remaining people from the boat that wasn't big enough to hold all the animals.
