My sister has been acting real weird lately. Like she gets this whiney attitude about me and my whole family and treats me and my family like we are retards or something. Usually, i dont take s**t from 12 year olds like her, but its gone way to far this time. Usually this stuff teporarily happens to her(she has has emotions) and its gone in a few days, but this attitude shes been getting really bothers me. For example, everybody acts different around their friends when their family is around, but my sister acts like shes tougher than me and like she can tell me what to do and when to. In my lifetime, I've seen some crazy stuff out of her, and I mean really really crazy, but this is a whole new level. I'm not a pussy or scared or anything like that, but my sisters only 12. Is this normal for a 12 year old girl to be acting like this around a 16 year old brother or what? I have been leaving her alone and not done a thing to her. Is this normal, or is something wrong?

I also dont know if puberty hit yet. I know that girls have the once a month thing, but this is constantly. Are there other signs of puberty for a girl?

Yes... this is normal for 12 year-old girls. They are hormonal and going through the pubies and they are being driven nuts by their own bodies. They literally cannot sleep through the night because of the bouncing hormones. On top of that, they are not kids anymore, but not anywhere near adults.

When she cops an attitude, look at her like she is a booger on your sleeve, call her down for being a little twerp, and walk away. If you don't give her the response she looks for, she will have to find another target.
At worst, reply something like: "If you are going to be like that, don't even think about talking to me... I will slap that smart mouth off of you!"

See if your mom will stop by the health food store and get her some "evening primrose oil" in small gelcaps... really helps the hormonal swings.
Good luck.

She's probably just acting immature and silly. Talk to her. Tell her that she's acting really badly and tell her that she needs to learn to appreciate everyone in her family more and mature and respect her older brother.
Try to be understanding of her emotions at the same time though, she's probably in puberty.

I think this is all about the hormones. And the clash of her new ones and your attempt to control yours... Its like having 2 PMSing women in the house... you can cut the hormones with a knife!

It might be hormonal. Has she started puberty yet? Maybe she's acting crazy because she's PMSing.

Maybe she's going to get her period soon. She's 12 right? that's around the age when girls start to have periods... I don't know I'm just assuming.
