yes!!! No offense to younger drivers but most younger teens are just not ready to get behind the wheel! They are too busy using their phones, talking to friends and flirting to be focused on the road!

Some teens are extremely irresponsible and shouldn't be able to drive until they're 18, no doubt. But then again, There are the responsible and smart teens who know and understand the dangers of driving. This is a controversial issue that requires you to make an opinion about all teens in general, when, in fact, some are way more mature than others and earn their respect by showing respect. Those are the ones who shouldn't have to wait until they are 18 to drive. I'm not necessarily sure what my decision would be on this question.

even though many teens do get into accidents because of cellphones, ipods, whatever.. it happens a lot with adults too, and the teen incidents are magnified more because the media generally focuses on teens more, especially at this period of time. Besides, there are so many teens that are more responsible than adults, and some don't even want to start driving yet, and so they're not noticed much. Therefore I do not think so, though I do think they should make the test a bit more accurate and prevent anyone who makes common, deadly mistakes on the road from going on the road in the first place.

I don't think it matters. People are going to do stupid stuff in a car when they first get their DL. Doesn't matter if they are 16 or 21. I realize the argument is that people are more mature when they are 18, but if the driving age is raised, we are just putting off the inevitable.

No. 16 year olds are completely capable of driving, Being safe? Another question. But for those who are responsible, perhaps want a job, and a bit of freedom, 16 is fine. In other countries, the age is 15 .

I don't believe it's the age of the individual that is a problem. It's the individual itself. I've seen a lot of adults that shouldn't have a license. Too many people only learn how to drive under perfect conditions. More practice under a controlled situation would be beneficial.

No because some of us get a Job before 18 and no one wants to be taking you and picking you up everyday, so that's a advantage that can be used also the person becomes more responsible, well so i think.....

Nope. People of all ages drive like crap, if you raise the age to 18 they still wont have the experience, you can raise it to 30... wont make a difference its all about experience.

No. People need to get some experience driving to be better when they are older.

It is like how Americans seem to get in so much trouble when drinking. Other countries have lower drinking ages, treat drinking as if it is not taboo, and people are more responsible with alcohol.

It really depends on the situation. If you have reckless teenagers on the road, then yes, but if you need the help of the 16 year old for grocery shopping, driving and picking up other siblings, and being more of a help to you because of that driving privilege, than no, because it is taking that off your hands and freeing you to do something else.

No, but i think that the test taken to get your license should be alot tougher and more strict with the driven test.

I also think that the test should be retaken every 5 years. I know this would be alot of trouble, but i think there are way too many people driving that should have their license taken away with some of the stuff they do in traffic!
