The red blood cells will become lysid or explode, because they are in a Hypotonic solution, which means more water will enter the cell than leaves. Red blood cells must be in Isotonic solutions, which means there is no net movement across the cell membrane, in order to stay normal.

The red blood cells will burst because the water is hypotonic to the interior of the red blood cells. Water flows into the cells causing them to burst.

They will explode like if you placed a starfish in bathtub water.
Solutions injected into our bodies must have the same osmotic pressure as blood serum. that is they must be isotonic. If a less concentrated solution , a hypotonic solution, is injected in sufficient quantity to dilute the blood serum, water from thediluted serum will pass into the red blood cells by osmosis, causing the cells to expand and explode!

red blood cells will undergo osmosis and they will lyse because they are in a hypotonic solution.

RBCs burst when you put them in water bc they are hypotonic to water.
