And is there any scripture that specifically says that God is a being?

The Lord Almighty is the essence of EVERYTHING!! Just as gravity is everywhere on Earth, just as air is an all nourishing life giving resource for all living things on our planet, the Lord Most High is the EVER LIVING dimension, the core of all creation, without HIS presence nothing would or could exist. It is hard for us mere humans to understand or define our Creator, just as it is impossible for us to fathom the extent of time and space without our mind going into somersaults.

The Creator is as embedded across the range of Time and Space and all that exists as to be almost unseperable from anything and everything, at the same time, He Almighty is also separate from everything in his uniqueness.

In fact it is wrong to call Him a He, as that implies maleness, which is defective, as a male can not independently satisfy the attributes of the creation of the progeny of his species. But, because of the paucity of our languages, we do not even have the proper words to describe Him, let alone define or understand Who He is.

Depending on what scripture you wish to read, He Almighty is described by many scriptures. Ayat-al-Kursi or the Verse of the Throne of the Almighty in the Quran is a good beginning. It is in the first book, second surah or chapter of the Quran 2:255, which may be accessed from www.hti.umich.edu/k/koran.

I hope this answers your question.

The best answer telling you that God really is a being - in fact every single being is indeed God - is to look at the very ancient time honored scriptures of yoga which tell you that and give you the path you can follow for you to ultimately realise this truth for yourself. There`are profound and great gurus who have attained and live in this state all the time and they can awaken in others an energy called Kundalini which can bring you to the ultimate awareness that you are God.

Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Adam and Eve were hiding from an actual being because of their sin.

John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

'nuff said.

Personification of EVERYTHING. We define God as a person so we can better understand Him and have a relationship with Him.

Follow that thought to it's obvious conclusion...........

This is what makes negative theology so useful. Define 'God' by what it is not....... and you'll eventually realize that this idea we call God does not......... exist.

"and the lord caused the ground to open and swallow Korah"

this is evidence that people believe in a god being immature and whimsical, jealous
