Officer assignments are diverse than enlisted assignments. i replaced into enlisted retired in 2004. My spouse is an officer on energetic accountability. An officer is given a minimum of 8 possibilities the place there are job openings for his or her AFSC ( job potential) they're going to record those possibilities from one million-8 with one being their first decision. Then a adventure would be taken from there. The could additionally call their smart mangers who instruction manual them to the suitable decision for his or her 3 hundred and sixty 5 days team.

You'll fill out a dream sheet of places you'd like, then you'll probably go to the exact opposite of what you requested. Seriously, it's difficult to get exactly where you'd like, it's a crap shoot but sometimes, guys luck out. But from the way you asked the question I get the feeling that you think you can move anytime you'd like and that's FAR from the truth.

You might be stationed at your first base your entire first hitch or longer if you reenlist. I've known guys to spend 10 years at the same base. They're not moving people around as they once did, so you can be at a base quite a while.

You're able to put in for transfer anytime you'd like, but it still boils down to the needs of the AF. So, figure on staying at your first base a long time and cross your fingers that they send you at least somewhere close to where you'd like to be or at least learn to love where you're at.

the Air Force has begun limiting PCS moves. you can expect to spend, on average 5 years at a duty station before you can think about transferring out. so if you are only in for one tour, you can expect that it will be spent in one place.

your choice of duty station all boils down to your trade [mos] your rank and if there is an opening..............plus of course the lower down the totem pole you are the less likely you are to get the really good ones....oh and of course if you have loads or no dependents also factors in.

My son asked for and got his first choice the first time around, so he has high hopes of getting what he wants as the time for his next pick comes up.
