Fair price that you should be getting is around $800 to $1100 if only remove and demo the drywall sheet.

Around $3500 to $4500 if need to remove and demo the drywall sheet and the steel beam.

Price does not include any Material.

There a lot of variables in that. Cheapest would be if the house was empty, and you went to your local big box store and hired the worker who hang around waiting for work. Select those who have tools for the job. 4 guys should be able to do the job in 1 day at about 10-12$ an hour. Add the cost of a dumpster and that should do it. I would do all the fixture removal before the day they are to do the work.

I also don't know about any special problems like tile in the kitchen and bath.
