check with the cardiologist to be sure....but medtronic has told our patients not to carry the phone in the breast pocket on the side of the chest over the generator and to use the ear opposite the generator when talking on the phone

That should not be a problem. Even microwaves don't cause problems anymore.

My daughter just had a pace maker in this summer. She went in for open-heart surgery and- surprise! she needed a pace maker too. Anyway, I read all the literature. I think hers is a medtronic (got to check or id bracelet) and it states she should not get an MRI, go near any large electromagnets, radio towers, not go through metal detectors and keep cell phones away at least 6 inches from the pace maker. I'm pretty sure that is it. Unless it is a REALLY strong magnet, there should be no problem.

Also, her cardiologist said that depending on whether or not her pacemaker is pacing her heart (90% of the time her heart is functioning on it's own), she will fill weak if something is interfering with it. If that is the case, she should just move away.

Now that I think about it, her laptop is constantly close by. She is 15 and LOVES chat rooms where she can visit friends. That is suppose to be at least 6 inches away, but I know it is not. So, far no problems, but I think I will get her pulse/oximeter out and take a reading- just in case.

It depends what frequency the phone dialer is on. You should check with the manufacturer first.
