Many people say it is proof of the power of brain washing from an early age and bring up the example of the Quran.

Hey I don't believe everything I read, until I check it out. I don't trust man's word, only God's. If what I check out aligns with God's word, then I am able to come to an intelligent conclusion as to what is true or not. You can't read the bible without translating it back to the orginal roots of words.

low intelligence...of course anyone that can't understand the Bible Old Or new Testament will say this and anything that will keep people from knowing how stupid there are for not being able to read and understand the Bible...we are not brain washed...if that is so then everything we do from birth is brain washing..from .crying to potty training...bed time stories...and I've read and had them read to me but I knew what was real and what was not I didn't feel any thing spiritual from them only the Bible and no other book on earth does what the Bible does....

Since when did the validity of the Truth depend upon the intelligence or reputation of the proponent?

Do we need to prove our academic bona fides before anyone will listen?

Since the commentary following your question suggests that one cannot be intelligent if they believe the Bible, does it necessarily follow that all aetheists are geniuses?

Do you have any proof for your question/statement?

Question - do you believe that events detailed in history texts actually occurred even though neither you nor anyone now living witnessed them? If so, why?

I don't know about either. My brother is very intelligent but seems to believe that the bible is the literal truth. He was not raised that way. That belief came in his mid 20's. We were raised Catholic and the nuns more or less taught us that though the Bible stories were true they were not to be taken literally.

It's not proof, but it correlates. Personally, I think they're probably both the symptom of something else.

No, I'd say it's much dumber for one to believe the world was created from a tiny dot of compressed matter that went boom and that life evolved from non-living matter.

Faith = trust.

Low intelligence = lack of learning or inability to learn

Big difference.

I believe that if someone believes in that than they don't have a lot of common sense.
