Your cat is not a dumbass, she just prefers the fresh water coming out of the faucet to the stale water in her dish. My cats are the same way, as a matter of fact, my oldest cat taught the younger two about drinking from the faucet. What I do is just leave the faucet on a little bit but put a bowl in the sink. The water is being replenished so its fresh, and I don't have a water bowl sitting on the floor waiting for someone to knock it over. Hope this helps, just be patient because she is still very young.

Mine HAS to do this every morning too. Usually he waits for me to finish showering, but sometimes he wants it right away so I've taken to emptying out the water bowl in the tub, and filling it in the sink as he jumps into the tub to drink.
It won't hurt yours unless you've cleaned the tub with a cleanser and not rinsed all the chemicals out.
Soap from showering usually goes down the drain enough that nothing is left on the bottom of the tub.

My cat loves the bathtub, shower and bathroom sinks. She learned how to pull the drain out in the tub if we didn't have it closed. She comes into the shower after we're done and goes for the water by the drain. We're careful now to make sure the shower is rinsed down before we let her in. We compromised by keeping water in the bathroom sink available for her (she'd pull that drain out too). I don't know what it is that makes this so attractive to cats, but it seems to be very common. If you're careful to keep it reasonably clean, no soap or other chemicals, your cat will be fine.

My cat does the same thing!!!! After a shower you can find him in the tub and hear him licking the water off it. He loves it! We tried turning on the water but the noise makes him run. He has not been sick, when I spray that clean shower stuff I close the door behind me.

He is probably doing this because the water is cool. Does the faucet have a slow drip? If so, its fresh and cool water.
Keep your tub clean and I doubt he will get sick. The only concerns I would have is soap residue and if someone took a shower with chemicals on them.

My dogs and cat regularly drink out of the shower. they have a bowl in there. Try that. You won't have to turn on the water all the time and you'll know it's clean.

My cat does this, if I leave water out for him he will just knock the bowl over playing with it but will never drink it. He does drink from the shower and from the dog bowl. I don't know why he won't drink out of his bowl and will out of the dogs but he will.
