i can't keep a straight face when i buy them, should she buy it instead??? what excuse can we use so that we don't look like a bunch of horny kids?? birthday balloons? or maybe for keeping quarters?

Unless you are 12 what is you problem. The cashier doesn't care. The store sells them so other people besides you are buying. Just put them on the counter any pay.
