A pastor I saw recently was warning the congregation that flu shots are a trick of the devil. Since their effectiveness in preventing the flu is fundamentally based on the principles of evolution, every time a good, Bible-believing, evolution-denying Christian accepts a flu shot from the deceivers of modern science they further validate evolution.

I'm a Christian. I used to work in a lab that specialized in vaccinations. Sometimes Christians (and a few non-Christians) would, indeed, file with the state to refuse vaccinations for their children and/or themselves on philosophical and religious grounds (yes, you can legally do that), but I never heard of anyone citing the theory of evolution as a reason for doing so.

if this were truly the case then christians would reject all modern medicine. as jesus said "it is not what goes into your mouth that makes you unclean, it is what comes out of your mouth that makes you unclean." blood transfusions, vaccines, organ transplants, etc. have all come about because of science, and god gave man the ability to come up with such things. it is also written that "a man hath no greater love than when he gives his life for another." this doesnt just mean you step in front of a bullet intended for another person, it can also mean you give blood(god has said that blood is the life force of animals, and man is an animal), or give a kidney, or allow other organs to be removes from your body at the time of your death so that others may live.

Well, if this is true then that pastor had better warn people that having any breed of dog other than a mut also lends credence to evolution. Also all domesticated plants such as corn, wheat, pretty much everything grown, plus all domesticated animals like cows, sheep.

Oh for the love of Mike! (XD always wanted to say that). Are you really that narrow minded and gullible that you would believe a statement like this?
Science is not evil, nor is it man made. It's a part of life - and is used by God!
After all, there was a vaccine to small pox wasn't there? Would you have preferred for many more millions of people to die? Don't you think that God would have intended us to find a cure so we'd be able to help ourselves?
Get outside, take a fresh breath of air, and learn to think for yourself.
I'm sorry. This just angers me.

Wow he was one poor misinformed soul. We can just look to Asia each year and see what kinds of flu is spreading there, then see which kind it is going to be and use that to make up the type of flu vaccine we need in the other parts of the world.

The body's immune system has of course evolved like every other bodily system. But your statements make no more sense than saying that eating a sandwich validates evolution since our jaws and teeth evolved.

I do hope that the people in your religion realize what tripe this is.

And will talk to their doctors before they take any kind of an injection that they are not sure about.

Flu shots are not overly dangerous, but lets face it, its an injection. And a reaction could happen. Speak to your doctor about the risks in ANY medication you are given.

It has nothing to do with your religion, it has to do with good common sense.

Blessings,
Aviana

That's bullshit. It doesn't even make sense. Unless the flu shot is radically different from most vaccines, it works on principles of the immune system, God's gift to protect us from harmful pathogens.

I'm a Christian, but I've never been a fan of flu shots and I do not accept them.
