I know this is a freakin idiotic thing to be scared about but thats just how I roll...Well I left me gym bag at school with my iPod and everything in it (things that arnt even supposed to be in school like Cell Phone, iPod, gum, voodoo doll er...i mean...well whatever...) and if my school finds a lost bag they look through it and if they find something that's not supposed to be there they take it away and wont give it back til the end of the year...Especially cells and iPods, they listen to them and look at the pics...And I am worried because I have "innapropriet songs" (by their standards) and pics of Criss Angel shirtless lol...Yeh your right I shouldn't have even had that dang thing at school but I need something to do on the long car rides home. Sorry I burdended you with my silly problems but it helped to complain about it haha...Anyways...

Do you think it's right they can go through our stuff like that?

Welll yes they should look thru a bag they find.. But i don't understand why you can't have an Ipod and cell phone at school.. What you do during school is their business, but your walk home from school you should have a phone and your ipod is your business.. I would demand your things back if they try to keep them.. The school system forgets that you are a person with rights and bringing your ipod to school is your right as long as your not disturbing anyone by using it during school hours..

Good luck.. and the picture of the guy with no shirt.. good for you .. That photo makes you a human like the people working in the office..

Keep your chin up high.

No matter what the "rules"dictate, I don't think it's right that they can just take your stuff. If your parents go and pick it up they should return it, not decide to keep it till the end of the year. I'm sure you can understand these days why a bag randomly left somewhere would be inspected for it's contents though. You can't be too cautious. However, I don't think anyone should have the right to inspect the contents of your iPod or phone without your permission. Get your parents involved if it happens.

yes abandoned items will be looked at to figure out where they belong. As is was not confiscated they should return it. Tho, they may only return them to your parents.

Turning on and scanning the ipod for song titles, and the phone for pictures would be invasion of privacy, and you should say that should someone want to bring it up. But don't sweat it. No crime committed being a kid.

As for your voodoo dolls, alcohol, drugs or what not, and any other exciting stuff you didn't mention... that may not come back if its not age appropriate.

Hope you get the big stuff back soon.

I don't think it's right for them to look through your bag or be able to tell you that you can't carry a cell phone or Ipod. If I were you I'd ask one of my parents to go pick the bag up - it's less likely they will look through it if your parent picks it up because if it is okay with your parent that you have these items it should be okay with the school. I can see that they might have rules against using these items on school property but to have them with you should not be a problem.

Yes, it absolutely is right that they go through bags left behind. They have to know what's in it to make sure it's nothing dangerous.
Yes, it was idiotic. You'll be more responsible next time.
Can't your parents get the stuff back? Consider yourself lucky, anyone found at my daughter's school with cells or ipods is given a week's detention, second offense is suspension, third is
expulsion. All these offenses also require parent meetings.

I don't think you'll get in trouble. I understand school's having the "no cellphone, no ipod" bans. However, I think it's OK for kids to bring them to school, BUT leave them in their lockers until it's time to go home.

I think it's especially important to have a cell phone with you in high school, so that your parents know where you are afterschool.

If the school does take these items, have your parents call the school. Have them explain that you NEVER use these items during school hours and they are for after school activities. I'm sure you'll get your stuff back if your parent's call.

Yes ,a gym bag left in school, of course they can. It could be a bomb. Now the cell phone should be private. But if you broke the rules you have to pay the price

They're your personal belongings and if they do say something, just tell them it's your privacy.
