I think if HD DVD wins and there are no more BLUE RAY movies being made, that there won't be any BLUE RAY disks for ps3 to make their games on. And has anyone heard about a rumor that play station is going to stop making games on blue ray because it is costing to much money, and that they will go back to making games on ps2 format (doesn't make sense?) Is it safe to buy a ps3 right now, without worrying that there might not be games for it within a couple years?

Where do you get your facts...Blockbuster is only renting out blueray as a hd movie choice. Many retailers are only carrying blueray players and movies ....Some movies that toshiba bought out from two production companies for a six hddvd release only have been all but repealed because the directors are thowing a fit and putting in their contracts that they are to be released on blueray.....

.AND PS3 uses blueray for games.....Get it hd games need blueray size you know 50gig.... Heck just the first level of ratchet and clank alone is over 1.6gig......

Microsoft is even been rumored to be looking into blueray because game producers are upset that the 8gig dvd format that microsoft xbox 360 requires for games is way too limiting..... Halo 3 was so small it only takes an afternoon to beat and you pay $70 for the thing that is squeezed onto a 8 gig dvd....

Have you checked the internet lately? PS3 has a butt-load of games coming out within the next year. And they are games that are going blow other games out of the water. As far as blue-ray goes, why in the world would PS3 stop making games on it? They own the format. They created it so I can pretty much guarantee that they are not going to stop using it. And if you compare the two formats you will see that hd-dvd doesn't even come close to blue-ray. I think it is perfectly safe to buy a PS3.

The HD-DVD vs. Blu Ray war isn't going to end soon, so I don't think its going to be a problem. And if HD DVD won, Sony (which makes the PS3) would probably still make Blu-Ray disks for games. I'd say its safe to get a PS3 right now.

Blu Ray is smashing HD-DVD in sales 3 to 1. In some markets Blu Ray is outselling HD-DVD 4 to 1 !!!

It sounds like you've heard a lot of rumors from very unreliable sources. Blu Ray is winning the format "war" and PS3 isn't changing its format.

1). check www.ign.com or www.n4g.com - more than 300 games coming.
2). Check internet and you'll see, that major studios are using only Blu-ray format, not HD-DVD.
3). Toshiba (HD-DVD main supporter) has no such influence as Sony has (it owns a lot of movie studios in States, Europe, Asia, Oceania).

Depends, even if hd-dvd wins, Sony still made the format so they can still publish first party games. The only problem is if there will be as much third party support for games (most games are usually third party).

Sony owns Blue-Ray so in the event that the moves are still being produced, theres no fear of games not being published

I think the Ps3 is a waste of money- Xbox 360 looks just as good in my eyes. Not worth the chance of not getting games because they chose the wrong format
