Go to your library and get some parenting books. I reccomend: Raising your Spirited Child, Love and Logic, Children the Challenge. I have a 6 yr old daughter who was that way and working with her w tips from these books has changed both her and I emmensly. We have a much better relationship now

Has your daughter always been difficult? If so, then this just might be her personality. If this is something new, then you need to talk to her, find out if there's something going on that's caused her to change.
Super Nanny is actually a good source. She deals with some pretty outlandish kids and her techniques do work. Consistency is the key though so any path you take, you'll need to stick with it.
Spanking is not a horrible thing though. If you can remain controlled and not spank in anger, then I see nothing wrong with it. I was spanked as a kid and I 100% believe our society's gone downward because kids are treated with too light a touch these days. They don't have that respect and fear of authority that I grew up with. By fear, I mean the fear of getting into trouble, I feared the consequence. Kids today don't share that fear.
It's like telling a parent to reason with a 2 year old. It's a 2 year old, people. The old reason should be, because I said so...period.

Spanking a child at five yrs of age does nothing for their self esteam that only shows the child it is ok to slap another person as she gets older, if you have any local comunity health services for counseling will help um if your looking online for help i go to the yahoo groups under titles of Parenting their are a few site for parenting that are good
google it and the results will please ya good luck I have experience in raising my children and my exwifes children when we got married they became my stepchildren well from past experience of disiplining they now call it child abuse You will invite unwanted guests in to your home by raising a hand to your daugther and once CPS (Child Protective Services ) is involved they are harder then sandfleas to get rid of or as I really wanna say their like haveing a very bad life time of the run's hard to get rid of and always on your *** good luck happy child rearing I am raiseing my 15 yr old daugther she was in a foster home for 5 yrs I now have custody of her when she was living with her mom she was molested by her biological brothers not my son. Their are some very good parenting books out their as well I am sorry to say I have had to deal with child protective services since 1990 until 2006

I'm not sure which book to recommend since you didn't give specifics but here are a few WONDERFUL books! These are from well-known and highly respected Dr's'. not some flake who just came out with "the newest thing of parenting"
Good luck!

Also-call your local Partnership for children and/or childrens resource center. possibly social services, (they have free parenting classes, behavior specialist) Here in NC they have free help. Hopefully they do in your state, too. start making some calls & tell them the situation. They will direct you to the right person. they have behavoir specialist that even does home visits. Best of luck to you!

Have you tried to listen to your daughter? asking her what is bothering her? Maybe you need to level with her and let her know how her behavior makes you feel. Sometimes as adults we don't listen to our children and they are people too. If that doesn't work they are many websites that you can go and maybe get some feed back from other parents. why don't you try Cafe mom>? maybe that one will work for you! Good Luck!!!!

you can start with therapist. and you can ask your primary doctor. sometimes he can stear you the right way and tell him about money. you can get something from social security sometimes if your wages is too low. call the office and ask and they can send you to various charities. call your church also or churches around there where you are.
