I remember the story,, just not who told it, sorry. I might have it somewhere in my files. I will write down your avatar and if I locate it, I will let you know. My files are at the Radio Station and I will not be there until this week end.
It was the story about a man preaching a revival and he told the story about a man who had taken his son and his sons friend out for a day of sailing. A storm came up and the boys were both thrown overboard. He had one life preserver ring. Did he throw it to his son, whom he knew was saved and a Christian, or did he throw it to his sons friend who he knew to be lost, and not a Christian. He threw it to the sons friend. The waves became very large and he could no longer see his son.
At the end of the revival, two young boys questioned the man about the story he had just told, they wanted to know the significance of the tale. He said, Your pastor was the man on the boat, and I was the one to whom he threw the life ring.
A greater gift hath no man, than he who would lay down his life for a friend.
