You and your friend can sign up and take the "Baby-sitting" class that is offered through the Red Cross. The class is offered to 11-15 year olds. You will receive a Babysitters training handbook with "know hows", tips, games, references, and first aid. You will be given a certification card for "Babysitting" from the Red Cross after you have completed the class. The class is a total of 7 hours (offered either 1 day, or split between 2 days depending on the instructor teaching the class). I highly recommend taking this course, it covers everything you need to know about babysitting infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school aged kids.
The Red Cross Instructor will teach you what you need to know and what every parent wants in a responsible babysitter!
The Babysitter’s Training Course can help you:
Interview for a babysitting job
Choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games
Perform first aid
Learn diapering and feeding techniques
Handle bedtime issues
Learn tips for having a safe babysitting experience
And more!
To locate your local Red Cross: www.redcross.org

The Red Cross and many park districts, schools, etc offer babysitting classes These cover responsibilities, duties, problem kids, problem parents etc. These classes would teach you a lot and give you a lot of info to run your business. Courses in First Aid, CPR, Life Saving will all add to your skills and desirability as a baby sitter. Print up a brochure with all your qualifications and hand them out to families with children. Our daughter made over $1000 a year babysitting from age 12-16. Her secret was not having many many customers, but having steady customers that hired her all the time. She also had a partner which was good because they could cover for each other when one was sick or had lots of homework and could not sit. Good luck.
