Be super nice, super polite, and super cheerful. They will be totally bewildered! Ha! Ha!

Ignore them completely. Rude people are usually ignorant or in need of some attention. If you completely disregard them, they will usually just shut up. Dont ever acknowledge what they say or do because that is exactly wha they want. And if they get a rise out of you, you may end up looking bad yourself.

Say, "There's not need to be rude. We're adults and can communicate in a civilized manner." And just take it from there...

Ignore them. and if it's in a work place or school, report them for harassment if it continues.
Do not! I repeat, DO NOT get into a physical confrontation. They only lead to injuries.

Be really really nice - that'll frustrate them even more.
If they call you a name say "fair enough" or "yeah that's true"
If it's someone like a bus driver or something say "I had a wonderful bus trip, thank you for making my day that much more enjoyable"

My favorite way is to simply say "Oh, I am sorry you are having a bad day; but please do not take it out on me" Surely I hope your day gets better, with a smile of-course... God bless****
