it is a horrible idea, if someone wanted to be in the military then they would sign up but otherwise they need to leave the people who dont alone because some people have families they need to take care of(daughters, sons , brothers, sisters and i could go on forever) so over all very bad idea

A military draft is not a good idea. The volunteer force is working just fine. That stated; I do think that some sort of national service should be completed by everyone between 18 and 27, but not specifically military service. Work in a national park, habitat for humanity are just a few good causes. Nice way to give back to a great country.........

Conscription is a terrible idea until an invasion from foreign armies in the near future is obvious and inevitable.
It's best to keep an all volunteer defence force, as the military life isn't for everyone. The three or four other soldiers in your fireteam should be there because they want to be soldiers, not because they are stuck against their will.
(and for the record, conscription and "the draft" are the same thing)

Bad idea. I'm a woman and I have a friend who decided to join the military when she was 18. I think she just wanted to get out of her parents house. Anyway, she ended up getting pregnant and discharged from it. I know that I would hate to get drafted because I don't want someone other than my parents telling me what to do. That's just my opinion though.

No, I don't agree with the draft. The people who sign up for the military wants to and will do their best. The ones who don't want to go will not have that attitude. You shouldn't have to be made to fight for your life. Isn't life hard enough already?

Bad idea. Ours is a professional military made up of volunteers, not conscripts. Supposedly, we sign up knowing what we are getting ourselves into -- most recruiters can talk a pretty good line of @!$!#. It becomes a matter of assets and liabilities. Draftees are usually not too happy about being in and are less than eager to learn. They are a liability.

Horrible idea, because our services simply don't have time or inclination to deal with those drafted against their will.
Some leaders will tell you that they waste a disproportionate percentage of their time on a small amount of people...the troublemakers. That figure would only get worse with draftees.

Bad Idea. I think it would make things worse for those who are already in or want to be in the military. A lot of people can't physically or mentally do what needs to be done. I want someone who will "have my husband's back" not jeopardize his or others lives' because he doesn't want to be there.

If they drafted all people no matter what color you are, how much money your family has, your sex, your education or your willingness to go, the war would end tomorrow. When more family's share in the sacrifice, It would become more real to people.

If this grew to become into a hundred years in the past i could trust you. issues are way too complicated with this "conflict on terror" and thank you to debatable. i think of the draft has grow to be out of date, or a minimum of, human beings could be greater open to it in the event that they had greater faith of their government, yet in view that Congress has an 11% approval score, you tell me, could individuals bypass alongside with a draft mandate? i think of youthful men could plenty greater probably style their own armies just to oppose the draft! to no longer point out, what could each and every physique of those women human beings's equality strikes say...and since the story could be that "our usa is in dire straights from an outdoors stress" shouldn't women human beings be drafted too? the secret's, this conflict we are in is thoroughly diverse than something we've ever been in (different than Vietnam) and the draft grew to become into ended then by skill of Mike Gravel, an identical man or woman who publicized the pentagon papers for the congressional checklist which shows that the conflict grew to become into greater to maintain usa's financial device in conflict mode and supply perks to contractors like Bell Helicopter than to truly "combat communism". The "conflict on terror" isn't designed to be won, it truly is designed to be sustained. i do no longer advise to sound preachy, yet data is data...
