Oh that's interesting, but he was filled with the Holy Spirit while in the womb. Before he was born. Not..someplace before he was conceived...
Don't you love the word of God though..for it's deep spiritual truths?

John 1:15 as translated in the:
The New American Standard - "For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother's womb.
The New International Version - "for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth."
Thus, John was already a being, which is why many believers are against abortion. Incidentally, the word incarnate means "in the flesh", and the Holy Spirit was, indeed, within John while he was in utero, so this verse does not prove that a person's soul exists before conception.

You have presented two distinct questions. The Holy Spirit filling John in the womb of course does show that John was alive in the womb. This is the normal state of affairs. You could go further and say it proves John was a person, spiritually speaking, before he was born, thus proving abortion to be the killing of persons, not merely the removal of impersonal "tissue." This demonstrates that abortion is murder.
But in your first question, you seek to push the existence of John's personal soul back to before John had his body. Yet John clearly had his body when the Holy Spirit filled him, though he was still in his mother's womb. Therefore, this passage does not address your first question, but it does answer your second question with a resounding Yes.

That babe in Elizabeth's womb was not alive? Not alive until he was born? Of course he was. He was there, body, soul, and spirit.
In this special case, he was filled with the Holy Spirit even before he was born. He was special because he was designated by the Father to be the one to announce Christ and be Christ's forerunner.
When Mary showed up, John lept within his mother's womb. John, yet in utero, recognized the Son of God and the son of man carried in Mary's womb.
In the old testament, it says that God knew us before the foundation of the world. How can we exist before we are conceived? Our spirit and soul, in some mysterious way, existed before we were born, from the foundations of the world, and they will exist whether our body lives or not. Our spirits and souls will live forever, for good or ill.

It said that he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, so I'm not sure that it is enough evidence to prove the existence of the soul before it is incarnated into the body.
Man! This is really deep.
Nice question.

Maybe that means while in the womb before comes through the birth canal. I believe my son was also filled wit the holy spirit before his birth. We laid hands on my belly and prayed from the day I knew I conceived. When he was born not only did I not feel any pain but he also slept straight through the night from the day he came home. He was an easy going kid who rarely cried and people were constantly drawn to him.

If the Angel spoke to Zechariah before he had contact with his wife, then yes. In any case, the soul must come from somewhere, it can not be created at the time of conception. The story that Adam was created with dust and God blew into his nostril, imply also that when the dust had the shape of man, still was inert dust, God had to provide the soul by blowing in it. And from where God got that soul? God is eternal, and we being part and parcel of God, we are also eternal. Eternal means that has not beginning nor end.

1. For God - everything is the same, today, yesterday, tomorrow, the time does not exists, he is above it.
2. The soul does not exist (in a popular but wrong conventional sense). Try doing some research about OT's therm NEFESH (hebrew word) that is translated as PSIHI be the septuagint and as souls in modern english I believe. It is, most of the time, wrongly translated as souls. It has more then 70 meanings... Other therms important for biblical anthropology are RUAH, BASAR, LEV or LEVAV

Didn't YHWH let Abraham know in no uncertain terms that nothing was too HARD for him? Also read Gen 2:7 again, then learn about BREATH,. / BREATHE, And remember that when God proposes to do a thing,,He considers it DONE,,,, Also consider a chind noy yet born,,,,,yet,,, ALIVE. Also scripture never said that the soul is incarnated into the body, again GEN. 2:7.
