Has everyone ever painted their house that has aluminum siding?

I have been told that there is a new paint out just for painting aluminum siding. If so has anyone used it and how did it work?

Latex paint works fine on aluminum and vinyl siding. It stretches as the siding expands and contracts with the changes of temperatures. In either case, you want to prep the surface so it is clean and roughen shiny spots. Where the siding ends under a corner piece, make sure you paint when it is cool and the siding is contracted. Otherwise, when it contracts, you will see the spots you missed when they were under the corner molding.

I've never used a paint made just for aluminum siding, but I have painted aluminum siding. First you need to scrub the siding with good soapy water and a brush and rinse...let dry for several days. Here's the trick, use a good oil based primer thinned with one part mineral spirits...let primer dry according to directions and paint with a good quality exterior paint...good luck.

aluminum siding tends to chalk over time. power wash the surface (gently just to get the dust off). do not use a primer, not necessary. mix your finish latex house paint with a product called emulsa bond first, then second coat with full strength latex house paint
