actually, no, there isn't a difference. you capitalized the entire word, which indicates you are NOT talking about the Marine Mammal. as such, you are posing as a member of the Navy SPECOPS team. Real SeALs take umbrage at that disrespect.

now, to answer your question: short answer is: Depends. are you looking to be an Officer? then you want a 3.5 or higher GPA in a Highly technical field such as engineering or computer science. If you want to be a specific TYPE of Officer( not URL), then you need to specialize in something that directly corresponds with the community: for instance if you want METOC, you'd better get a nice meteorology degree. Supply, make it in business or logistics.

If you are just looking to enlist, you can have a degree in anything you want, although it may not help you get the rating you want.

The one that results in a degree and gets you a commission, after that it's very few specialties that it matters at all in. SOME pilot programs at SOME times are very competitive and you'll need a very high GPA in a technical degree field like engineering or sciences to get in, but there's tons of pilots with history degrees too. A few things you might find helpful. Languages for sure, but I don't think a degree is the best way to pick that up. Foreign relations, polysci, history... really you just need to be a higher level critical thinker that performs well under pressure, has demonstrated perceverence, and not a complete idiot.

I take it you are not yet in the Navy and hence not a Seal. Perhaps you should change your screenname so that you don't mislead people who might think otherwise. USN Seal is a hard earned title and it is considered dishonorable to mislead people to think you are if you are not.

There are many degrees that would be of use.

All types of Engineering
All types of Medical
Management
Finance & Accounting
Languages

Or just whatever you like -- 13th Century French Litarature for example -- as long as you work in the 30-odd hours of ROTC training that the militery wants.

It depends on what you would like to do. Sciences (social or physical), languages, international studies, economics...basically anything can be useful. :) Also, another way to think about college and future jobs is that college will teach you how to learn and how to be trained...always a useful skill. Best of luck!

It really depends on what MOS you want. A Criminal Justice degree wouldn't hurt either.
