Drink a glass of water one hour before your race, stay hydrated so the day before your race drink 8 glasses of water, also if you want to drink Gatorade the best is Gatorade G2 due to the fact that it has low in calories and low in sugar. Either water or Gatorade ( G2 only) are good. Both will make sure you stay hydrated, prevent from coughing during race. I prefer water for the cost, but make sure its not flavoured with like lemon or strawberry or any other flavour.

Water is best. I have seen people get sick from too much gatorade more than a few times.
Drink water consistently over the course of the day. Not too much right before practice or race time.
Gatorade is useful after practice, or in small amounts during a break in practice.

I suggest water and fruit. But only drink Gatorade ater the race. So this way you're not tired as much, and you don't get cramps. Gatorade helps you get back your stamina--obviously you don't need your stamina back before the race because you never lost any. Therefore, water is the best choice....but it doesn't make that much of a difference.

I would say start with water, but don't drink too much water or the water will flush electrolytes from your system. These can be replaced with a sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade. If you lose too many electrolytes, you may cramp up..so stock up on the sports drinks for their sodium & potassium.

I think water is better but it can still over hydrate you. make sure you balance the water with some kind of juice. Like for an example, every 2 glasses of water, 1 glass of juice, or so on.

WELL GATORAGE IS SOMETIMES OKAY BUT TRY WATER BECAUSE WATER IS THE BEST THING FOR YOU at your age right now. your body needs water more than gatorade because anyways gatorade has water in it too
